Hey, that's my birthday.

I'm curious as to why they're looking for Japanese voice actors in LA. Well, I assume they want J-VAs because they have to be able to speak Japanese (and be younger than 22, good luck). I guess they're looking for the Becca of voice acting, someone foreign to stick out and draw attention.

"Look at this pretty American voice actress we have playing in this anime! She likes anime and is from America! She's an American that sings and speaks Japanese, too! BUY BDS AND CDS NOW!"

Well, I wouldn't say that they have to be Japanese or even Japanese American but they do have to be able to speak conversational Japanese, which a few hardcore otaku anime fans can if you look hard enough. Not sure I agree with the age restriction though. Not that I would submit an application, cause I definitely don't speak Japanese (a few words wouldn't really count I suspect Rolling Eyes ), but should just being outside of the age range get in the way of talent? I mean most really talented American Voice actors are way older than what they're looking for. And I do have to wonder about the whole "don't tell us your nationality" rule. What's that about? It feels like the "don't ask don't tell" policy the army has, except in this case wouldn't it be pretty obvious once they meet the person? Or maybe it's exactly like what king of hearts is inferring and they're just trying to find a cute foreign mascot to generate new and exciting interest in the anime industry. Who knows...

I wasn't saying they specifically need to be Japanese, I was saying they're looking for someone to take back to Japan to be a voice actress, hence Japanese voice actress. I know exactly what they're looking for: Pretty white girl with blonde hair, blue eyes and nice measurements. A real life Tina Foster, basically.

yeah well, not that that would be imossible to find, but I'm not exactly seeing it as very likely that there's a blonde hair, blue eyed, skinny white girl that's into anime, speaks Japanese and looking for voice work in the LA area between the ages 12-22. I mean seriously? Let's not be delusional now.

12-22? Man. I got excited for a second, but I'm 25. Not happy, HoriPro!

That's where ya guys are misunderstanding. A Japanese talent agency is not looking for "talent" - they're looking for "tarento". There's a difference.

For instance, they're looking for a virginal idol they can sell to horny teenagers. They're not looking for an oba-san like Susan Boyle. If ya don't have the hot & innocent looks to match, no amount of "voice talent" would buy you a plane ticket. Laughing

they just need one. I don't think they are looking for white girl. I think they are just looking for a good looking girl who like anime and can speak some Japanese. Any Race will do it for them.
