500+ is ridiculously expensive for cheap bonded leather. It would have been nice if they designed the jacket with some longevity in mind.

How could one tell that jacket apart from other jackets?

....dammit, why must I have responsible adult things to pay for? My cosplay obsession needs love too!
Oh well, at least I've already got the shrug from 2nd GIG... Also, I'm loving the jeans-and-t-shirt look on the Major, although I can't help but notice that her breasts seem to have gone down a size or two...budget cuts at Section 9? |

How does anyone tell one Gundam from another? In the same way the majority of people would mistake Indiana Jones' jacket for an A-2 flight jacket, once you know the garment it's obviously not one. The basic silhouette of the jacket is pretty much identical to a Schott Perfecto or its imitators, particularly in the collar, but is different in the arrangement of the pockets and substantially less asymmetrical zip. I don't know that this variation of the motorcycle jacket is iconic enough to be "Motoko's Jacket" though... That being said, a women's Perfecto made from a solid cut of leather rather than processed amalgamated scraps and is certainly sharper looking and far more long lived, costs $50 less. I get the cosplay/marketing angle, but are there really enough female GiTS fans of the particular build this jacket is designed for, who are willing to pay a premium for what is essentially a very, very expensive costume garment? |
