I'm worried about the future of Studio Ghibli. Could 'Up on Poppy Hill' mean the end of the studio?
It is grossing much less than even Tales from Earthsea. Is the 'poor' box office a result of it opening along side Harry Potter and Pokemon, and some aftershocks of the earthquake/tsunami? Apparently, Studio Ghibli is working on Porco Rosso 2: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/jul/07/first-sight-hiromasa-yonebayashi This is quite a reliable source. Apparently, Yonebayashi is 'working on' the film. I wish Miyazaki would create an entirely new story, and Porco Rosso wasn't one of his best films.... I hope something can save the future of Studio Ghibli!!! |
