The new TV mecha series by GAINAX, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, will start broadcasting on April 1st in Japan... at 08:30 in the morning?! Jeez, this time slot was reserved for children's show; were they GAINAX's original target audience? I was very surprised to see a GAINAX show at early Sunday morning. Personally, I don't think it's a clever move: this show will sure be filled with fan service and gag jokes, which is not what people expect at 08:30 on Sunday.

Hmm, I do say, it will be interesting to see how it goes with this one. After looking at the website it may be a little overboard for something at 8:30 in the morning. Another hint probably comes when looking at spoiler[Yoko's bio].

I thought my first impression that this series was aimed at the FLCL fans, since it kind of has that same look and feel. Well at least that how I feel about it,
Can you think of any other shows that also ran during this time slot that are normally for younger children?
I thought that was a given since it's GAINAX, and basically that's all they do nowadays, well that and milk that other robot show for all it's worth. |
