It's always great to see Aya Hirano getting new roles, but she sounds totally different from her usual anime voice in this video.

I think by now Aya's most famous role is Lucy Heartfilia then Haruhi Suzumiya.

It's been a very long time since I last heard her voice (seriously it's been FOURTEEN YEARS since the Haruhi movie, which is the most recent thing I've seen her in, and yes that makes me feel very old), but I remember years and years ago it came out that she had a nonmalignant brain tumor that she didn't want to remove because doing so would potentially permanently alter her voice. I dunno what ever came of that, but now that you point that out, you're right, and it makes me wonder if she did end up getting it removed after all. Or it could just be that she's in her late-30s now (which also makes me feel very old) and her voice has changed naturally over time. Either way. |
