That was a cute first episode. We have two people who are not great at communicating and are rather withdrawn trying to make a fake marriage work (though Alaska sounds pretty nice to me to be honest). The first episode showed that this will have both of them try new things and thus grow as people and presumably eventually become a real couple. The only issue is that they have no chemistry as of yet and the question is if that is intentional or not. If so then it fits the show/concept but if it stays like that then the show might become stale.

At the very least, that woman is almost certainly autistic. Problems communicating including apparently staring, and a major interest in maps.

I certainly don't mind the idea of two shy, emotionally shutdown people finding happiness with each other, but the monotones and terse conversations and lack of expressiveness kind of had a cumulative drag effect on my sense of momentum.

My most enjoyable moment was when the dragon queen supervisor turned into some kind of beaming, friendly marriage junkie, and she's not a main character. If the shy guy had gotten up and forced himself to sing with his fiancé during that awkward karaoke moment, it might have tilted things for me a bit.

That said, I'll probably keep watching for at least a while, because I really did invest somewhat in wanting these two decent people to find a safe port, so to speak, though I'm not sure why cats aren't allowed in Alaska, or how high the chances of a person who can't communicate being put in charge of a foreign office really are..

While it is true that the mc's do not have a lot of chemistry and their interactions are dry/monotone the show very much keeps things busy so it is no issue as of yet. The mysterious threatening call, colleagues suddenly coming for a visit and pops arriving with a nightmare scenario wedding wise, all those things keep the mc's on their toes and busy.

So yeah, still very much in for more.

I've decided to keep watching this one and Goodbye Dragon Life on Mondays, and the Mecha Arms anime and Trillion Game on Tuesdays just because Thursday is such an anime traffic jam for me.

Yeah, it is rather unbalanced, monday, tuesday and wednesday are very calm for me while the thursday through saturday combo is a killer.

I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to like this show - I even decided to watch it on Mondays because Thursday is so crowded, and maybe that decision helped, or maybe I just like where episode 2 went with the premise. Either way, I'm still in too.

I have to say, the mystery of the voice scrambled caller and the introduction of Obsesso Dad gave this anime a boost for me. I'm okay with low key. I just watched and loved 12 episodes of Days With My Stepsister last season for example, but that show had gorgeous art backgrounds and piano accompaniment and surreal cinematic touches and two lively friends to add a little garnish. This show has two emotionally shut down leads without any friends except for 1 cat, and they probably wouldn't do as well in a vacuum. So I find the way they're scrambling out of their comfort zones in order to keep up with the way their lie is spiraling out of control kind of fun. Viva la complicacion.

Yeah, this show is continuing to grow on me.

There's a certain irony in the princess deciding to end her fake relationship because she wants something real like the fake relationship the MCs have going.

On the other hand, I guess the MCs might have a double fake relationship going. They've even faked themselves out.

Ep 6

This is the most realistic portrayal of adults having problems I have seen in years. And one of the most painful to watch. I now have a lot more respect for this show.

The little boy spoiler[coming to the office to look for his papa] I can believe, but having a grownup stranger, even one that works with his papa, take him spoiler[looking for papa at his business contacts, all over a business district, ] feels a little extreme, though it works well in the story.

George the Hawaii guy is a good example of an adult taking charge in a difficult situation and getting people on track. He is my candidate for best side character of the season. And best use of spoiler[a punch to the nose.]
