I enjoyed the show more than I expected. It's just a shame to not get an actual conclusion. You can't even read the manga since no translations are available. Maybe we'll get a third season but with the manga being canceled I'm not holding out hope for a decent conclusion.

I feel like this anime is much better if you're an avid golfer. Gawaine has abilities that far exceed his mental aptitude for the game. When he takes that hit on the head, this isn't him unlocking new abilities. This is basically damping his high-strung personality, and allowing him to only focus on the topic at hand, hitting the ball in the hole. This knock put him in "the zone". From a professional golfer's perspective, this was a huge joy to watch! I would suspect that the next season would entail Gawaine striving to get back into the zone and harness his full potential, but struggle to do so. I believe they are also trying to keep Tristan a mystery for the time being. Personally, Tristan comes off as the perfect rival to Gawaine. We don't get a lot of Tristan, much of what surrounds him is mystery. He is the quite individual that beats people based off of his hard work, not his natural talent. This is why he is more reserved, focused, and determined than the others. He is the guy many of us grew up playing against. We didn't know the guy that won every tournament very well, when we were playing golf with friends, that guy was on the driving range, practice green, and working on his skills. So, where you suggest Tristan is the weakest character, I offer the complete opposite observation. I find Tristan to be one of the strongest characters. This is a guy that shows up and immediately people need to rethink game plans and take risks to try and beat. Basically, Tiger Woods of the early 22000s. It is his stone cold presence that commands the show and makes the character. Where you're ranking it for an anime is about right, but for a show about golf? This is an A+ show that I binged watched in a single weekend, I don't do that with too many shows!

Considering the manga ended a long time ago, I was expecting this to be a full adaptation, so I was surprised to see it end four volumes shy of finishing covering the source material. I really enjoyed the way the Camelot Cup ended and I hope this show gets an additional season to wrap things up.

It's been a really long time, but if memory serves, the manga wrapped up a big arc that COULD have served as the ending with a few tweaks, then starts gearing up for the next arc but got cancelled before that really began. I don't think that was four whole volumes worth of setup, though...

Guess I'll hope it does well enough on Netflix to adapt that arc.

Easily top 2 shows of the year, huge improvement in every way over S1 (except the animation which starts to melt in the 2nd half) and music weirdly remained unchanged.

Enjoyed this quite a bit. Had all the right mixes of realism, character growth, silliness, drama and fun. I'll be happy if they decide to make more one day, otherwise I am fully satisfied with how it ended.
Looking forward to Oi Tonbos conclusion in August and then Sorairo Utility in January next year.

What's the point of doing an anime adaptation 25 years late if you're not gonna bother making it a full adaptation? Was it all just an ad for the new manga editions?
