I was pleasantly surprised to see this Friday evening! I was totally expecting to have to wait a few months before it came out in NA and definitely not merely within a week from its release in Japan.

If only we can get it dubbed.

As well as 2205.

And on Blu-Ray. Seriously.

2nd "Film" in November.
So, this is finishing up in 2026 sometime?

Well I know what my Saturday night's going to involve. Got to say, this is a huge surprise.

Yeah. Also Ark (that's more for fans who didn't buy the English-subtitled Japanese BD release). But at least they made 2205 episodic (for the cinema release, and then aired it episodically on Japanese TV). Ark was only ever a feature film and I reckon they baulked at it since the JP release had English subs the same as the JP Blu-Ray release of 2199.

I bought the Japanese Blu-rays for 2205, but still waiting for the subbed version. Needs to be done because there's important events in those films.

That's the general gist of how these have gone. I've been in Japan to see four 2199-continuity releases (2199 Chapter 7, Odyssey of the Celestial Ark, 2202 Chapter 1, and 2202 Chapter 7), and with 2202 the last chapter was about about a week past the two-year anniversary of the first chapter's release.

Probably won't go to Chapter 7 of this one, been to Japan in the summertime once, not making that mistake again.

They're planning 26 eps and this "movie" is 2 eps, so fi they continue at this rate it'll be more like 2029.

I thought the TV cut of 2205 hadn't come out yet but it already did in May. Really bad form for CR to just put up 3199, which straight up spoils the events in 2205 in the synopsis, without putting up the previous one. Hope that gets rectified.

Right, I was totally expecting a delay of years. But I want Blu-Ray - I will buy that immediate

First movie is 2 episodes, subsequent six movies 4 episodes each. That's how you do a 26-episode series across seven movies, just like with 2199 and 2202.

2199 and 2202 are currently $5 on iTunes for the subbed and dubbed versions.

The opening 2 eps took directly from The New Voyage. We´ll see how much of the unloved and prematurely canceled Series III and the 00s OVAs make it in. The 00s had 3 failed Yamato revivals, 2 of which didn´t even end, so the OG continuity is still on a cliffhanger. The 90s only had one failed revival.

Watch the 2205 film duology/mini-series first or none of this will make any sense.

Kind of crazy that they skipped over 2205, hopefully that's coming soon (and dubbed)
