Well, its officially over. sweet ARMS are stuck in the basement (along with the Narrator) doing ED songs again until the end of the story. I tried real hard to get sweet ARMS back to doing the OP but my efforts clearly failed. Not sure if I said it here, but I said it somewhere... Miyu Tomita (not her fault) has no right to be doing the OP song. That belongs to sweet ARMS since day 1. She has no connection with DAL unlike the members of sweet ARMS who voice characters in DAL and sang the ED songs in DAL1 and 2 before tradition was broken in DAL 3's ED song by having someone not connected to DAL perform the song. We know which member would have been perfect to perform DAL 3's ED song because the season was about the character they voiced. What a goof that was.
Its quite clear the switch over to Geek Toys is the reason because of Date A Bullet, which was a preview of things to come, but still... it sucks hard when they throw the OG's under the bus. DAL had an amazing formula to start the show, which was one of its best qualities.

The studio animating it doesn't really have a say in who sings what. The actual reason is probably just that Nippon Columbia, which has been one of the producers for the series since S1, prefers to promote their newer talent over people who have almost completely retired from both singing and VA work.

Ain't no way this is the final season, especially since it's only 12 episodes. Isn't there still another season's worth of content left after this?

No they clearly said the "beginning of the end" in this trailer so it is the final season!

That can easily be interpreted as "it's almost over, but not quite". Not to mention I distinctly remember someone saying a while ago that this season could be 2 cours if they really wanted it to be the last season. So really, there has to be at least one more season after this.

There's like 5~6 volumes of content left, no way in hell they end with it with just 12 episodes.
Lets see what happens.

There are 6 novels left for the series to cover. Which I doubt they'd do in only 12 episodes.
I predict this season is most likely going to focus on the second half of the Kurumi arc (which Season 4 ended in the middle of), and the Mio arc. (covering 3 novels total between them)
They miiight go ahead and do the next book afterwards too, but idk how well that'd flow (I haven't read the novels myself), but regardless, the point is that wherever this season decides to end, there would likely be at least a little story that remains to be adapted. (Whether as one last season, some movies, or whatever.)
So whether this is the final TV series or not, I think fans could expect Date A Live to have one last hurrah afterwards, in some form, to close out the series.

Epic key visual, epic PV, CG Spirits, Shidou putting the moves on an artificial Spirit, maybe kissing Kurumi (?), Final Boss level Spirit, and...young Reine!?
I'm glad SWEET Arms is still doing something but it's so weird to have Miyu Tomita sing an OP for a show she's not even in.

It will take a sixth season to fully adapt the rest of the novels. Expect a final season announcement after this one wraps up.
