The Toei anime is perfectly fine and this just screams pointless cash grab to me.

I can only guess that it's going to be a heavily condensed version of the show? Also, the end must be near if they already re-booting it. Right, RIGHT!?

e: So after looking around, it seems like it's just a remake of the East Blue Saga. It could even be "Romance Dawn" but with more detail.

This is literally a silly dream I’ve had that I had zero expectations of coming true.

Then maybe this remake isn't for you?

A lot of people don't watch Toei's series for reasons, and this may be something that will bring them in.

I figured we’d get more arc recap specials/movies, but a potentially full “Kai style” remake (not even a re-edit like Kai actually was) seems so strange when the series is still on-going. And not years after it’s ended.

Like let these poor voice actors *rest*

Do this kind of reboot ten years from now. Doing this reboot while the Toei show is still running seems crass and insulting to all the people who work their butts off on that show every week for the past two and a half decades and coming off a high year with all the praise the Wano arc got. And you already have the live action remake doing a condensed retelling that was also highly praised.

That's not for you to decide.

Wit studio is for now animating only the beginning of One Piece, and Toei did that, like 20 years ago.

Live action version obviously isn't the same thing as anime version, but its success was most likely also one of the reasons for this remake to be a go.

Also, I honestly doubt Toei cares after all this time, their series isn't going anywhere.

Where does it say that this adaptation will condense the story? and why would it be an insult to make a remake? lol the series is still availabe and no one is stopping you from watching it, but there are also people like me who think that this sounds like an interesting project and it would great to watch the early chapters adapted with a another kind of direction and new animation.

Heavens no! I've been waiting for a One Piece anime remake for a decade now. Granted, I'm fine with the slow pace of the first 100 or so episodes (minus filler); but to pretend that there is NO reason to do it? That statement has the same value as saying the Live Action was pointless.

The current anime is fine until the timeskip, then the pacing slows down to an absolute crawl and is filled with things like 10 minute intros/recaps. If they were to remake anything I would say start with the timeskip. But assuming this will be like other seasonal shounen adaptions, it could be nice if it's not heavily condensed like the movies that adapt the various arcs are. The anime isn't perfect and changed some things for the manga, including infamous things like the Apis arc that had to be retconned due to introducing things like dragons and Zoro cutting steel chains. But I'd say until Fishman Island the anime is perfectly fine. They might even allow for a bit more violence that the anime originally toned down from the manga.

Or for all we know this could be another one of those "remakes" that aren't actually a remake and the first episode ends with a time-travelling Devil Fruit user showing up to stop Luffy from rising to power or something.

Wait What?

I mean don't get me wrong, i knew one piece would of probably gotten a remake at some point as it is too big not too and one that is better paced and evenly spread with no fillers and prolonged sequences the better (Toei really has messed it up post Water Seven arc)

But again i would of tought they would wait at least until Toei finishes adapting it all.

I don't know what to feel about it. However if they fix the pace and has quality adaptation i would take it.
