Gotta say I love this new era of racing anime. I hope it lasts.

A former ballet dancer gets involved with futuristic racing? Sounds familiar.
Doesn't seem like there'll be any government conspiracies in this one. |

Again, I don't know why there's no mentions of the staff working on this show in this trailer. Usually we'd get more than just the character designer. You know, the people who are writing, directing, animating, providing the sound direction, etc. I know not all anime trailers bring in all the information like who does the art direction or composite, but this is pretty out of hand even compared to that.
Why are they withholding that information this time? Is the production this troubled, is it a very specific NDA? It can't be them being a keyfabe because they have the character designer and voice cast. So it begs the question why the rest of the production isn't being revealed. |

Good news: The character designs are by Takuya Fujima
Bad news: The characters are CGI |

Not surprised it's all CG.

It seems very likely that King Records eventually moved away from the cursed Tokyo Babylon 2021 anime project. Why?

I'm wondering if the cars are designed by Shoji Kawamori since they are highly reminiscent of the car designs from Future GPX Cyber Formula

Worse part is the character animation of the CG looks really stiff. |

Seems to me they might have gotten Polygon Pictures for it, given how that seems to be a trademark of their animation as of late. They've really fallen since Transformers: Prime. Even their western work like Mech Cadets and the War For Cybertron Trilogy, has turned to crap with similar issues. But again, I don't get why they wouldn't announce the studio animating this show (or even the director or lead writer) unless they're this embarrassed about the animation that it's better to leave the staff off until release. |

It's not the CG that's the problem here. Yes, CGI in anime is highly contested, but that's also true when discussing non-anime media as well (especially in regards to Live-Action productions); but it's a tool that can be used right or wrong. I'm definitely in the minority when I say that CGI does have its use in animation, even if it is to the detriment to the likes of mecha animators; And that there are a few companies that do decent work (with some like Graphinica, Asahi Pro and MAPPA having gotten their act together in recent years and are doing some pretty nice CGI on otheriwse 2D productions for what it's worth). But at the same time, mediocre and bad CGI does need to be acknowledged. If an MCU movie or show can be ridiculed for its CGI, so can a seasonal anime. And this is pretty mediocre. There's certainly worse CGI out there, sure - EX-Arm, Tesla Note and FLCL Grunge all exist; and companies like Chiptune are stull churning out pretty awful CGI effects for 2D titles. But this isn't particularly good either. If it does turn out to be a Polygon effort, then it's just another notch in their belt of cruddy-looking CGI as of late. |

It looks nothing like Polygon Pictures. It looks more like Sanzigen, Sola Digital Arts or Millepensee than Polygon Pictures. |

Like I said, It'd have been nice if they were open about who was animating or literally anything else besides character designs (since usually it's around the time most titles announce such details), but they aren't for whatever reason. It also doesn't feel like either of the three studios you mentioned - Sola doesn't frame skip or go all in with the cel-shading, and Sanzigen and Millepensee use 3D/2D mixtures. From what I can see, there doesn't seem to be any 2D elements anywhere. Even the background characters appear to be 3D if the first trailer back in March is any indication. If it's not any of them, odds are it's either a no-name studio or newcomer. Hence the lack of a credit. |
