I keep saying it, but Pikmin 4 is really staying strong.

Same here. I wonder if it can get over 1 million?
Also a small side note it seems FF16 has dropped off the list.

Nintendo is slaying it hard!
And I'm surprised that Animal Crossing is on Top 10. I guess, due to the new games that have come out, people would move on to games similar to Animal Crossing... like Dinkum, Harvest Moon, or Story of Seasons?

FFXVI is still in the Top 30, it's in 28th place with 1,856 copies, that means the game sold 412.895 physical copies since its launch. I'd never thought that a new Pikmin game could surpassed a brand new Final Fantasy in Japan, and I know that this is just physical copies but I don't think digital sales make that much of a difference, I don't think FFXVI cross a million copies in Japan if we include digital copies.
That reminds me that last week there were some discussions if Square-Enix was happy with FFXVI's sales performance, they said they were satisfied with its initial sales, but we're talking about a company that complained about a Tomb Raider game which sold millions being a dissapointment, some game's analysts said FFXVI sold fine, but I don't if "fine" is a good thing for a mainline FF game. Don't know if S-E and Sony were expecting TotK numbers, I know that the PS5's instalbase is smaller than the Switch's, but they gave XVI a ton of marketing and they even dubbed the game in various languages in order to reach a more global audience, but I don't think XVI has sold more than 4.5 million copies so far

A very long post that doesn't even mention FF15 and the PS4's install base in the same timeframe because it makes more sense to mention a game on a different platform that released 1 month earlier and compare the PS5's install base to it because everything is about Switch. After FF15 (on PS4) and FF7R, Square Enix knew what to expect on PS5 relative to the PS5's install base.
