It's about what you'd expect out of a Shonen Jump movie. The fights were at least interesting to look at, but there is also a lot of padding in the form of having characters contribute nothing more than maximizing the chance that somebody in the audience is just happy to see their personal favorite be in it at all.

Yeah a lot of people were calling this one the best shonen film… but I don’t see it. It was extremely shallow, literally just one big fight and barely any story. Granted the animation was great, but that’s not enough to carry this. 6/10 for me. I feel like Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and One Piece Film Red were wayyyy better shonen jump films that actually felt like movies.

I loved this movie, and was so glad to see the crew animated once again. I do hope the anime will start up again soon enough, although maybe not until the manga is close to or had finished so there's no risk of filler arcs or having to stop again.
That said, I do wish there was more time for some of the characters to shine, but that was bound to happen when you have a crew that large and a limited time to showcase them. That said, the bits we did get was a lot of fun. I especially love all of the moments with Noelle, especially when she fought alongside Asta. I know we've seen those moments before, but it was so awesome to see again. I also was very surprised by her combo magic spell with Gauche (and Grey, albeit that was minor and to a smaller extent). It's an interaction we normally wouldn't see, and I thought that was really amazing. Same with the combo spell with Yuno and the Captains. I know something like that will never happen in the series outside of a movie, but it was so awesome! There were a lot of other smaller moments that I appreciated as well (Sally being part of the film, albeit only for a few brief moments, Nero working in a lab and the glasses were a very cute look on her, the little bits of banter between Noelle and Finral), but I really enjoyed a lot of the bigger moments and the fights the most.
Also, the squeal I did when Haruka Mirai started to play during the climax. I probably should've figured that was going to happen, but I was still shocked and I was practically dancing in my seat. Every time they replay that song during a fight moment, it becomes one of the most memorable moments of the show, and this was no exception. Combine that with showing off Nacht and Liebe (didn't expect it, given that this takes place during the timeskip so they weren't technically introduced yet) and I was completely enthralled.
Overall, I found the movie to be a great time. But I also understand why others thought it was just okay. It is your typical Shonen Jump anime film, which doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but it's just there. It's a fun time, I do feel like this will be worth re-watching in the future, but it's not going to have the longest lasting impact compared to the main source material. That said, this was a great way to tie Black Clover fans over while we await news for the anime; I just hope folks won't be expecting this level of animation if/when the series does return. It's gorgeous, yes, but it's movie budget vs TV budget... I think folks are going to be very disappointed if they do have that expectation.

I mean it's not about budget, rarely it is. A lot of the same animators already worked on the anime. It's all about good management and scheduling, which the TV series neither had.

Regarding the animation, the truth is simply that Black Clover always was a show that "survived" through webgen animators, and this movie is no different. You obviously have plenty of veterans, but looking at the animator credits for it, you'll find the list having tons of Twitter people. And when the anime comes back, it will be the same way, hopefully with a better schedule.

I already like this movie better than the first MHA movie for not sliding in a 5 min flashback at the start of the movie The villains are still typically your average shonen baddies but they've proven to be more interesting than the Dark Triad in a 1 & a half hour movie than they did for a whole arc.

I'm an anime-only fan of Black Clover. Unfortunately, a year or two ago, YouTube showed me a video with manga spoilers in the title and thumbnail. I didn't watch the video, but the information I saw was enough to spoil a few upcomimg moments. I was so mad, but it is what it is.
Anyways, I mention this because I have a question for manga readers. It's possible that I'm imagining things, but I'll be alluding to a BIG SPOILER, so don't read if you're an anime only fan. This was a test. Last chance to back out.
MANGA SPOILER: During the movie's opening scene, when everyone was fighting Conrad, did you notice dark glowing flames in Julius's eyes? I think we may have seen that a second time during this movie, when Conrad confronted kid Julius, but I could be wrong about that. In any case, am I reading into it too much, or was that supposed to be an Easter Egg of sorts?

I noticed that as well, and thought similarly for the same reason. Now, it could've just been a style choice, like this whole idea that Julius doesn't like the idea of fighting Conrad or something like that and the darkness is his regret, but I wouldn't be a surprise if it was an Easter Egg towards events in the manga.
