I'm glad the dub is finally coming out but it's weird it's like a month away till it's out and we still don't know who any of the other cast members are or where it's going to be released at. I'm going to be frustrated if this gets dumped on the Microsoft Store and never talked about again like the Dragon Quest dub.

I wouldn’t be too concerned yet since Spring ends on June 21th meaning it could very well be three snd a half months before it airs giving enough time to properly market this,

I think the possibility of nostalgia pulling in more viewers is the only reason they're dubbing this instead of Ghost Game, which I'd assume we'll get a dub of anyway down the line. It's a much better series in most aspects.

I hope this isn't a gag dub like the original.

I'm glad it's getting released, though it would be nice to know how they're releasing it and the rest of the cast.

I hope Toei bring this version to other countries as well, if they manage to dub it into LatAm Spanish I'm sure they can bring some of the original voices from the original Digimon Adventure , though some characters like Tai, Matt and Takeru will need new voices since they were voiced by actual children in that version.

Did the English version of the original Digimon Adventure make several changes in its dub? I only saw the movie and it was weird the fact that they combined 3 different movies into one

Oh yes. I first got into Digimon back when Xros Wars was new and went back to watch all the previous series. I checked out the American dubs from back in the day out of curiosity and they were full of things like non-stop jokes, tons of censorship, and the entire music being replaced. I remember they changed the final villain of Adventure into some jokester who talked about pizza toppings which was crazy.
I remember when Tri got an English release they reused some of the old VAs and even still replaced the Japanese theme with a new 'Digirap' for the sake of nostalgia and used their Americanized names. I really hope they don't touch the Japanese music and names again. The fact they're using new VAs might indicate it'll get a proper release this time.

You know they did all that because it was suppose to be more of a children’s show and some of the stuff they do in the original Japanese version of the show is not appropriate for children in the US

Despite this, it was still one of the more accurate dubs for it's time. The "tons of censorship" was minimal, changing things like poop to "sludge", and removing Buddhist mantras. They went ham with the voices and jokes, but the overall story was still serious and intact. During the Etemon arc they made it very clear that dying in that world equals dying, period. And characters still died plenty. The original score and insert songs are wonderful, but there's no denying the dub themes(maybe not the vocal ones) are iconic in their own right.
It's all pretty moot for this thread though, as Adventure: is a poor, pale imitation of everything good with the original series.

I will have to say.. Season 4 was my most favorite.. it was serious and funny at the same time… now Fusion was a cringe feast and I could not watch the 2nd half after I finish the first half but yes first 4 seasons where good as well as Data Squad but again.. season 4 where they turn into digimon themselves were my favorite series
Opening music wise… first 3 seasons where the same and remix-ish… but I again.. dang… season 4 English opening..,, I can jam on that song all day.., love it… after that it felt like the music went down hill… Data squad opening was an exception.. they did a good job with the English opening.. but still not my favorite

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't the only reason I'll be watching

The Digimon dub had it's fair share of censorship but it was hardly "tons of" it. Besides the music and name changes and more jokes, most episodes of the old Digimon dub were pretty much the same as the Japanese version and most of the deaths were kept in tact. Digimon is still by and large a children's show and it was mainly The Movie that had the most alterations from the original. I think probably the only major censorship change they did in the first season of Digimon was changing one episode where they changed hitchhiking to "Sora's cousin Dwayne" but most episodes were not that far off from the original show, speaking as someone who has both versions.

Besides that new English theme song and the use of the dub names, Tri's dub was entirely uncut and all the rest of the music was kept, including Butterfly and the ending themes. There were some new jokes added in the Tri dub but it was overall pretty faithful to the original series. They've already confirmed the new dub for Adventure 2020 will still be using the dub names which are approved of by Toei themselves but the new dub is going to be almost certainly uncut besides that. Kizuna's dub was also uncut and kept all the music. Digimon hasn't had a localized jokey dub since Fusion.
