They said it was the s2 proper according to What’s On Netflix.

My guess is this is to hype the series before that recap movie hits theaters the same way S1 on Netflix did for Mugen Train.

I live in Asia where Netflix simulcasted the anime. Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc are two separated seasons. I think "Season 2" refers to Mugen Train Arc only.

Oh good, more Demon Slayer for me given that I'm on episode 6 of season 1 (yep, started to watch it since late of last year, I got a lot to watch beside Demon Slayer hence why I started a bit slow). So I'm very happy to see season 2 coming to Netflix.

Wait does this mean that Netflix owns the anime now and no longer Funimation/Crunchyroll ?

Demon Slayer is licensed by Aniplex, not Crunchyroll/Funimation.
