I like the characters so far. I'm not a huge sports anime guy but I will certainly follow this for a while, at least. |

For some reason the style is reminding me of A Place Further Than the Universe.
There is so much in this season that I will have to cut out, but I won't rule out that I might check this out, even if I too am not much of a sports fan. |

I am curious why the kendo girl from that character picture looks like Xellos the mysterious priest from the Slayers so I'll continue watching to find out why she's there.
I don't see her joining the judo club but she's also the reason it still exists. |

Episode 13 (Finale)
Yep, this was a very solid show. I'm not into judo especially but like all good sports shows, this one managed to make me care despite not having an affinity for watching the sport in question, irl. I rated it Good. |

This is the anime of the season. Full stop. Yes, it's low quality animation. Yes, it's a VERY niche sports anime that most people (including me, I have 0 knowledge of or interest in judo) know nothing about. But I was cheering my heart out for these girls the whole runtime of very episode. I've never been this excited and having this much fun watching any anime! The tournament arcs are amazing and every match feels unpredictable. Think "Girls Und Panzer" where there's just enough of the slice of life-y stuff to make you care about the characters, and then it's right back to the matches/tournaments to give the action we want! Michi is such a great character, and yeah, it's a little unrealistic that people just seeing her once from a distance would be inspired by her smile, but who cares? It's a great premise, and I can't wait for a season 2! They have more character growth to do, the Kendo girl hasn't been in an official match yet so that needs to happen, and Hirua deserves to win a tournament (with us watching)! Mo mo Ippon!! Let's go season 2!! The only thing holding this show back is a complete lack of people watching it, like seriously, where are all of you? Take 2 seconds to get past the lack of dazzling animation and unusual art style and dig into this amazing series of matches that will have you on the edge of your seat cheering!!
