I sometimes wonder if the reason behind this manga's success in Japan is the lack of genuine relationships and friendships in their community life.

Completely irrelevant in that case. It just got popular among women auditory as new fujo shipping hotness after the anime and live-action movie were released around the same time (reminder more than ~5/6 of the volumes in the circulation of it were sold after the anime series released last year, despite the manga itself was already 4 years in the running at that time), and then it just got overblown - and considering WSM sure not got any replacement hit for it, they're gonna milk it to the bone.
