Sounds like Punchline, without all the ecchi...

I can't help but feel that this is going to be one of those shows where you keep waiting for the big payoff, but it never appears.

Like the reviewer, I believe the "end of the world" may be purely metaphorical for Sato-chan. I would guess that her parents are getting a divorce or one of them died and she will be shipped-off in 30 days to a not-so-nice person and some actual Shinto god took pity on her and is giving her supernatural knowledge as an ego-boost to make the transition easier. So far I am finding this show much more enjoyable than Charlotte and the humor is just great. Like the reviewer, I was howling at the Armageddon/Rocky/Edward Scissorhands rip-offs with Izunami-chan as the straight-woman. Paint me interested...

Hey, what’s wrong to listening some death metal tunes and then watch Clannad or Charlotte?

This anime feels so dated is like going back 10 years in the past! like those animes with annoying loli, the main girl it's Index! but this isn't Shana or FLCL where there's some kind of reason or impetus for them to be together and achieve some kind of purposes. if you removed ten seconds from the episode in where she declares that the world will end, there wouldn't be any kind of overarching plot. The Generic Key Protagonist, a total doormat who drops everything to indulge in his tantruming manic pixie girlfriend's every whim while making snarky remarks to the camera and/or screaming overreactions ugh! Hell, it doesn't even have the fast pace of something like Ah! My Goddess

Everyone is different, perhaps he is into manic pixie girlfriends, or he will grow to love them.

One of the the theories I and others have seen elsewhere is that their world might be in some kind of simulation, an explanation of how Hina can predict events. And that does seem a little more likely with some background plot in mysterious people looking for a physicist which they mentioned is also some sort of computer genius himself, where two things might intersect. Maybe also explain what the end of the world means.

Yeah, I have no idea where this is going and to be honest I'm a bit worried about it spinning it's wheels with the comedy hijinks and having to rush to the actual plot.
But I'm enjoying the comedy hijinks so I guess it's ok! Ep 2 was really funny with the parodies and the comments on whether the dad has a job he needs to go to (and in ep 3 the mum specifically says "your dad has work" so I guess he's ok lol).
Ep 3 was really funny. I loved Yota's act. The little documentary was hilarious, with the narrator going "It doesn't make sense. But it worked". The fallen angel bit really cracked me up, it was so lame and Hanae's delivery was perfect.
Right now this is great comedy but I really wonder where it's going, because eps 2 and 3 really felt like filler episodes that should appear like halfway through a longer series.

Quote: | “What the hell does this have to do with anything going on?” you might be asking, and buddy, what makes you think I have anything approaching an answer? ... You could have told me they slipped in a deleted scene from Charlotte to get this episode to 22 minutes and I'd have believed you. |
You seem to be doing fine in my book, since the reviews are more entertaining than the series has been so far. Ganbare!!
DP, I like that theory! It's as good as anything we've got right now.

Yota isn't even close to a "Generic Key Protagonist". No Key protagonist has ever been a doormat like this guy, only side characters like Sunohara or Jun are comparative. He doesn't have enough angst or issues to qualify for a "Generic Key Protagonist". While the show does have that dated feel in the comedy, Hina doesn't come off as a "manic pixie girlfriend". She is over the top, loud and childish. The only reason he is doing anything is because of her powers, which adds up to something bigger and will lead to her story.
I wish we could get into the main story and skip the common route, lol. I'm glad that some of the bigger parts of the story are coming into play though.

I've never been one to care about where something is going if I'm enjoying it. And boy and I laughing my ass off every week with this show! I really enjoy the manzai, the commitment to the bits and all the off the wall ideas they're going with to tickle our funny bones. It doesn't hurt that I really like extra heroines. For example I really loved watching Minare Koda in Wave, Listen to Me when she grated on other people's nerves. Odin is an overinflated little barrel of ego and laughs.
I don't think this constitutes a spoiler but whatever.
I think that Odin is a science experiment from the scientist techno guy is hunting down and she can see the future. In it she saw the future of this town where a disaster is going to happen and wipe it all out and she has taken on herself to change this boys life for the better until that happens. Since there seems to be a connection with the parents maybe they were former employees of the scientist and have taken pity on Odin. But that doesn't explain why they are not trying to avoid the "world ending" which pokes a hole in my theory. It could be that Odin is only telling Yota and that's why the parents aren't acting. But I admit that's probably not likely.

I may have to alter my earlier prognostication because these days, (especially in Key Land) when you combine Physicist, Quantum, Missing and Hacker you can bet bizzare sht is going down for reals...Anyway, with Ep4 at least the plan doesn't horrifically backfire but I am sad Yota didn't bang the celeb when he so had the chance. What a waste indeed Hina...
My new thought like that of the previous commenter, Hina may be the scientist's relative and he stumbled on something reality bending that her ability is a side-effect of...

The elasticity of the rules was due to this event being something about rejuvenating mahjong, as per the judge who organized the event, and why everyone else had no comment about what happened at the end. So a pure chaos elemental jumping in to completely make up tile combinations and moves, and even sometimes declaring victory while the set wasn't quite complete, was probably beyond what she wanted to see, hence her elation (and uncomfortable advances).
I know just the basics of mahjong, where you aim to make a set of tiles (most with a numeric value and suit) composed of 3 tile straights and pairs (and a few other combinations) by drawing and discarding a tile during your turn, and sometimes taking a tile somebody just discarded if it completes a straight. And there's a really complicated scoring system that determines points gained and lost at the end of a round based on the set itself, how it was made, and a few other things.
Even if I didn't know all the real terminology they were throwing around, I could tell just how wrong all those made up moves were, and that combined his confidence had me laughing. Especially when he brought Uno into it! I also have no idea how they decided on any of the scores after he started making stuff up.
It would be nice for the plot to actually go somewhere, but I expect one or two more episodes of pretty good goofing off until they hit the end of the 30 days.

Yeah, I didn't understand any of it either, but his enthusiasm and flamboyant pride over his bizarre combos was admittedly infectious, so that was fun.
RIPieces, Dad's suit. -_-'

More games should implement the "If you can do it in Uno you can do it here" rule tbh
