The Syi(however it is spelt) Loop, is a lot like the main attack from NiGHTS.

The official spelling is "Cyloop", according to the overview video (see 2:39).

And yeah, it does look like NiGHTS' main attack. Considering that Frontiers and the NiGHTS games were developed by Sonic Team, maybe the people that created the Cyloop ability were inspired by NiGHTS.
