Well, that's at least one important thing down, though really hoping both of these parts end up being good. Progressive and Alternative are okay, don't think they ruin anything exactly, but they felt pretty unnecessary start with so these kind of just feel like milking.
Also hoping Shoegaze is traditionally animated. I'm perfectly fine with Grunge being CGI, FLCL always did play around extensively with different art styles, but both of them being CGI would just add an extra cheapy feel to everything.

That’s just the thing, they are leaving the original alone. Other than Shoegaze being a decade later after Alternative with different characters(and maybe some familiar faces from Alternative appearing), none of the series are related to eachother. So these series have nothing to do with the original other than just Oh hey look Haruko is back meeting up with another set of teenagers or in Grunge’s case Adults. You could say that when doing FLCL like this, there are infinite characters that they can do.

While that's nice, it still doesn't change these being pointless cashgrabs trying desperately to capture the lightning in a bottle,the original was.

Hey you can’t just make something a cashgrab simply selling old & new stuff for old IPs. You got to diversify 
I was gonna ask what in the world is “shoegaze” but apparently it’s an alternative genre of rock which I should’ve figured.

Yup.
And good start at least for these with their first step, getting them back for more music.

Digital 2D animation is a different type of beast than 3DCGI.
