The manga's been losing me a little bit as of late, but I'm still pretty excited for this. Although I don't know how good that staff is

I heard about this series when I came across some peeps mentioning that this is a decent substitute for Act-age ever since the latter got unceremoniously canceled. Is that even true?

I have been reading the manga via Manga Plus (which is releasing 4 chapters per week). 32 chapters in, I can't say it has held up to expectations based on the hype (I have not been spoiled, so I can only assume the source of the hype comes later). So, I could see an adaptation struggling to retain an audience after the initial series of twists.

I've only heard good things so it was only a matter of time, I figure the only thing keeping it from getting an anime was a lack of source material

I wouldn't say that. I'd say there's enough for 2 whole seasons now (as in 48-50 episodes), if they wanted

If you mean, is it a really strong showbiz series that focuses primarily on acting, the answer is yes.

I also just started getting into this series thanks to Manga Plus, so I'm really excited to see it animated. The premise makes the series sound like Mushoku Tensei with idols, but it very much isn't (in case anyone else reading the synopsis recoiled like I did). It's a showbiz drama with heavy mystery elements, somewhere between (later-season) IDOLiSH7 and Perfect Blue.

50 episodes out of 8 volumes? I thought the standard was ~25 episodes for 8 volumes (for a good adaptation, anyway)

Well, it largely depends on how it's paced, but assuming it's 2 chapters per episode, that's at least 40 episodes if we go by what's been officially published in tankoubons. Trying to squeeze that into 25 episodes will *not* end well.

The initial series of twists is the rougher part of the work - once it settles into being about showbiz, it gets really good.

This manga was on my "to read" list because of Gigguk but I might as well wait for the anime

Very much expected and very much excited.

There are plenty of materials to adapt but I think they should just do one-cour with 13 episodes for now. Or, as much as I don't like it, split cour, 13 and then six months break another 13 episodes.
