isn't a terrible series. It's also not a great one. It makes an effort to mix things up a bit but ultimately is too devoted to the basic villainess story to truly achieve that, giving it that slightly stale feeling.

Think you are being a bit harsh with it. It is a villainess story after all, if it went too far afield from that, the author might as well have written a normal fantasy story without all that isekai trappings. I feel that the mixing things up worked well to lift this story up over the usual fare.

Opinion of someone who read the LNs and WN for this - the story overall was rather underdeveloped and sparsely written, esp. in the plot and romance department. Some readers on the J Novel Club forums also opined that the ending spoiler[was quite asspull and left a good deal of loose ends with no closure for them.]

I'd go as far as to say the story mainly prioritized spoiler[fluff and happy cute scenes with Sere and the people around her, with the author even admitting in the final Vol 3 afterwords they only wrote this story as a means of stringing 3 cute scenes together (as illustrated on the LN covers for this series).]

@zztop

Are you saying that the story is over at the end of volume 3?

That's a shame, even worse, if what you say is true about the finale.

Sorry Rebecca, seems you nailed it on the head.

Correct, story ends in Vol 3.

Closest thing to a continuation is the WN chapters written to celebrate the releases of the LNs and manga adaptation, spoiler[and their content is only fluffy breezy sidestories (ex.Sere goes to Gale's founding day celebration, Sere goes to graduation party, etc.,)]

No worries, I'm hardly infallible. Wink I wish I had been wrong about this one, though; for whatever reason I really enjoy villainess stories, so this was a major disappointment.

Huh, a light novel series that's actually complete, with the third and final volume coming out in literally two or so days? I might have to check this out, if only for the purpose of checking it out for myself.
