I completely forgot that the showrunners claim that this is an AU sequel to the games up till RE8. I repeat. This is a one-way street canon. RE8 wasn´t even out by the time the scripts would have been done and there is nothing from the games in the leaked stuff/trailers. We will also have to overlook that Wesker was created tough a eugenics experiment and that he has openly racist lines in RE5. Oh well. Lance Reddick is a decent choice in itself. This is one of the rarer productions where (half) the plot is actually set in South Africa and not just filmed there because it is cheap. I mean, it is, but the location isn´t doubling for anything else in the 2022 timeline. Not so for the 2038 timeline but post-apocalypse settings with a dead civilization are about as cheap as it gets to film. Why was RC a dead community in WTRC? because they had no money. Why has all of humanity been reduced to just millions in the Anderson sequels and here? No money. I will admit that I respect the creature effects if you consider the budget but why are we on the 8th live-action adaptation and still dealing with badly lit sets? The flat lighting makes the show looks cheaper than it is. Riverdale (S1 is good) of all things knows better than this. |

This is the show where the script leaked and it was just an edgy CW teen drama with Resident Evil paint, right? Trailer looks about what one would expect from that.

Correct. Is there a particular reason that all RE adaptations are obsessed with it being post-apocalyptic? The only series I’ve seen be that insistent on post-apocalypse when the main setting wasn’t was Highlander. Hell, one could argue that the difference maker between RE and your standard post-apocalypse is that governments and corporations see the undead and various monsters as tools for political purposes. |

Andrew Dab is writing this? Are you kidding me. He is the one single handling repsonsible for destroying Kripke and Sarah's Original vission of Supernatural Tv show. Man I am not looking forward to this this soap opera, teenage angst drama that resident evil is going to become with its modern social media slang and steriotype western humor. Oh fudge me. |

Unless people turn out to hate-watch it, this show is likely DOA. Every teaser and trailer Netflix has uploaded has been met with a flood of dislikes, despite YouTube trying its best to discourage people from doing that. People are understandably suspicious of live-action Resident Evil productions. Making a show that looks like it could've been an off the shelf script that had the Resident Evil name slapped on it isn't going to change many minds.

Hard to tell. I just saw a clip of the trucker zombie walking nonchalant into the police station while on fire and the song Crush by Jennifer Paige played in the background. That's a pretty high bar. |

The leaked script is legit worse than WtRC. It was most likely developed further after the point someone got their hands on it but the basic plot clearly remained the same. The only way for the show to keep any flavor is if all that shitty dialogue stays. Perfect genetics IQ 180 Wesker making a test tube baby that masturbates to Zootopia at age 14 is a way to stand out. Surely.
