Rikiya Koyama playing a cop for the umpteenth time.

Seems like a nice, quirky, cast of a police domcom.

What do they mean by "in a pod", I wonder? Is the police station some kind of tiny pre-fabricated unit?

"POD" is an acronym used by police for "Police Observational Devices", as in remote controlled cameras, but that doesn't seem to be relevant to the title of this series unless most of their work is monitoring cameras, which wouldn't make for much of a show.

It's been a while since the last time You're Under Arrest got a new season (which weirdly only seemed to happen roughly once every five years even though there wasn't any new manga to adapt as it finished a few years before the original OVAs were animated) so perhaps Police in a Pod will fill that police action and workplace slice-of-life comedy void.

Is it a pun on the English expression, "two peas in a pod"?

Would not be the first time something like this is done. In Hyouka, spoiler[the Literature Club's Annual is titled "Hyouka" (ice cream) as a play on the English "ice cream" sounding much like "I scream" (in protest).]

[Edit: added spoiler tags. Errinundra.]

Has Hanazawa Kana had a lead role in a series recently? She appears relegated to supporting roles of late.
