"Frontwing was founded in 1999 and is primarily known for its adult visual novels, especially the Grisaia series and the ISLAND visual novels, both of which have inspired anime adaptations."
This seems to imply that Island is an adult VN, which it isn't. It should also be noted that they seem to in general be pivoting away from adult VNs in that the only adult VNs they've released lately have been Loca Love which are pretty low effort and even their most recent Grisaia series has been all ages. I expect Bushiroad acquiring them to push them further down that path to the point they drop adult VN entirely. I hope they can at least release Sharin no Kuni in English before that though, but with how much of a mess that whole project has been so far I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. |

I mean it is kind of interesting, considering the plummeting fortunes of visual novels over the last decade, that the Japanese multimedia conglomerates all decided recently to get a toe in that business. Bushiroad buys Frontwing, Avex buys ixtl (Muv-Luv) and renames it anchor, and Sony’s Aniplex starts up a whole new VN division, Aniplex.exe.
(Although I’ll admit, I assumed the whole point of Aniplex.exe was to pave the way for eventually releasing the Fate/Stay Night VN internationally, and it still hasn’t happened.) |

Well, this was the missing piece that connected all the dots in my head wrt to the Remake Our Life! anime.
animenewsnetwork.com/news/2021-03-06/remake-our-life-tv-anime-reveals-promo-video-july-premiere-theme-song-artists/.170330 Makes complete sense why Poppin' Party and Argonavis are providing the theme songs for an anime produced by Frontwing and written originally by the person who did the script for Grisaia. It's the first anime from the acquisition. I thought Frontwing was doing their best, being one of the few/only VN companies that directly reached out to the international audience instead of going through localizers like Sekai Project (they eventually ditched Sekai Project on the localization and release for Grisaia). VN companies aren't doing well generally though, as evidenced by the closures of minori and Overdrive. Hopefully this means Frontwing is financially stable and can continue to release VNs instead of pivoting to contract writing or something. |
