Excellent news! This is an amazing series, and I figured it'd have an anime coming down the line someday.
Also worth noting that this article missed, is that the franchise is receiving a new spin-off manga "World's End Harem: Britannia Lumiere" which will be a reverse-harem story: https://twitter.com/harem_official_/status/1260147709245181957 |

So....is Funimation going to take this, or drop it halfway through because they didn't bother to find out what it was about?

I'm curious as to what's "amazing" about this series. I read and reviewed the first manga volume a couple of years ago, and while I thought there was at least some potential, it didn't do much beyond the norm for a fan service-centered harem romp.
Unless later volumes did way better on setting and story development, its adaptation is not one that's going to be on my must-see list. |

I can only speak for myself, but I think the setting and character development are pretty unique and interesting as far as harem manga go. The way the story progresses, building up the worldview, introducing so many fascinating characters, and uncovering layers to the mystery, it's managed to be a very engaging (and sexy) manga. Definitely one of my favorite purchases of the past few years. I believe it's become a pretty big title in Japan (which is why I anticipated an anime was on the way), and it's managed to launch 3 spin-off works (on top of getting this adaptation) after all, so it must be doing something right. |

It introduces other characters that don't have the 'ordinary harem protagonist' syndrome and actually put out. Also conspiracies and crap.
But in the end it's just softcore porn, it's amazing if it gets you hard and not amazing if it doesn't. Now Parallel Paradise, that's amazing. |

Nothing. Its only redeeming quality is decently drawn fanservice. The early potential was utterly squandered for an overwrought conspiracy plot that takes forever to get anywhere. It also didn't help that the other protagonists were detestable. The original protagonist was bland, but at least he wasn't sickening to follow. I ended up dropping it somewhere near the end of volume six. |

The 1st volume was by far the weakest, i wouldn't say that it became amazing after that though. The plot doesn't really start until the 4th volume but since then the manga has been gradually getting better and better, the current arc which will end the first part of the serie was the first one that i considered to be really interesting, i have expectation for the second half but the anime will most likely adapt the worst part of the manga.

I see comments like this a lot, and it always feels so strange to me, because I feel like it really understates Reito's character and what his role in the story represents. It's exactly because a character like him exists that this story could become as interesting as it does. If the primary protagonist were just a man who was satisfied having sex with anyone in this story's setting, then nothing would really go anywhere, and it really would become "just softcore porn." Obviously there would be characters who'd gladly take that approach though, which is why those types of characters are introduced and explored as well. And they contribute a lot to the story as secondary protagonists, but a lot of that is a result of how their actions and place in the story contrast Reito's. Ragging on Reito's character with phrases like "ordinary harem protagonist syndrome" just, in my opinion, does such a disservice to the work as a whole. :/ Ah well, people are free to have their own thoughts on this title. I'm tired. |

Let’s hope FUNi learned their lesson. This and Interspecies should have been Discotek or Netflix releases.

I use that phrase because he's a standard character archetype in manga and anime with very little to set him apart except the worldbuilding premise. He has standard behaviors when presented with opportunity of sex and a standard story reasons for that.
No I don't need him to be a manwhore. I don't even need him to be interesting. The main appeal is the naked pretty girls. |

I think Funi may pick up World's End Harem ... aaannd Funi may(or more likely) remove it like Interspecies Reviewers. |

Most likely, the manga is just wee bit pornographic. I bet the suits making the decisions at Funi were just trying grab anything, will drop it when they saw what its about. If they pick it up and suddenly drop it, does it remain in their possession or do they return it to open market for anyone try pick it up. I would worry they will basically try block others from potentially getting it. I have very much of a HUGE dislike for Funimation, especially in early days of happy-go-lucky censor/editing anything they think they couldn't get on television. I see this no different. Frankly i am taken back their even making this into anime anyways, i mean its about reproducing the human race with last males, while one of them happens to be scientist who maybe able cure the issue. However.....the main theme is sex. |

It's amazing how long the MC stays cockblocked. The story's not strong enough to invest in anything besides the lewds.

Holy shit, Funi drops one series in a decade after the show's explicitness far exceeds it's source material and anyone's expectations and everyone acts like it's some kind of habit. No one acknowledges that it was one of several companies who dropped the show because it doesn't fit the Shonen Jump Weekly Prudish Funi narrative that certain people in the community like to propagate.
Stop being such tools. |

I don't think they'll even pick this one up as it's pretty obvious from just reading a little bit of the thing that it's gonna go places they probably wouldn't feel comfortable releasing. Might it be better to steer the conversation away from a company that has nothing to do with this right now?
