For most news articles in the RSS feed (animenewsnetwork.com/all/rss.xml), the feed reader I use, Inoreader, appears to search for the first image or YouTube embed in articles to use as the preview image since none are provided in the RSS feed itself. Until a few weeks ago, this worked just fine. But now it almost always picks up the RightStuf ad (cdn.animenewsnetwork.com/images/s/93/11338.ann-search-new_rev.gif) whenever there is no YouTube link in the article.
I'd guess this is happening because Inoreader never noticed the image meta tags in the page header and article pictures are now being being lazily loaded instead of being actual image tags, and thus are no longer being found. Meanwhile the RightStuf ad is not being lazily loaded, so it is the first image that is found. Would it be possible to look into this issue? It's harder to browse through articles when there are almost no preview images. I'd guess including the same image used in those meta tags in the RSS feed would be the most direct solution. |
