It still feels crazy to me that a group that began self publishing doujinshi novels decades ago is now behind a multibillion dollar franchise fully moved by the power of narrative. For as many problems as Type-Moon and Nasu have they have sure made their mark on the world of anime culture.
Another thing that I really, really admire is how open he is with his work and how willing he is to let people assume creative control. The decision to hide the names to protect the writers is very noble but also telling of how Type-Moon is a collective creation, not the product of a single mind but of the effort of many people who really believe in the franchise. I do admire Nasu as an author but his willingness to step back and let other people have their space is even more awesome. I remember years ago when he mentioned that he wanted Fate to become a genre in itself which is just appropriate for someone who takes from all sorts of sources when producing his work. When it comes down to it, it's the fact that Type-Moon maintained its spirit as a doujin circle instead of turning into something else that grants it its unique qualities. And now that Studio BB is coming I hope to see even more different voices contribute to the project. Thanks for the write up, BTW. That was one really nice read from an angle I really appreciate. |

Awesome article! I really wish more story-driven mobile games could be considered for the future. I’m sure FGO can be that big an inspiration.
As for Urobuchi, Thunderbolt Fantasy is his new favorite child, so it’ll be hard to convince me that he’s getting back into Fate so frequently. |

I'm curious what this is based on. I know it's popular in Japan, but it was panned a lot more heavily among English-speakers. Most polls over here seem to rank it third of the four 1.5 releases. |

I dunno. If it's just 1.5 then its Salem, Shimousa, Shinjuku, then Agartha. If we rate everything as a whole I would rather list what I enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and lukewarm. Enjoyed: Fuyuki, Babylonia, Camelot, USA, London, Shinjuku, Shimous, Salem, Solomon, CCC (it had enough script and plot relevance to be a singularity IMO) Lukewarm: Agartha, Okeanos didn't enjoy: Orleans, Septem Csnt wait for the Lostbelts tho! I heard they are all great. |

I mean, I'm not just talking about personal opinions. Shinjuku is by far the most popular EoR story in the English fanbase, with Salem in second.

That's probably more to do with Jalter and Salter being popular waifu. From a writing perspective I liked Shimousa more.

The most concrete example is likely last year's Famitsu popularity poll where the five most popular chapters were Babylonia, Camelot, Solomon, Shimousa, and Yuga Kshtera, in that order. |

Shimousa is the only remnant that I couldn't push myself to finish reading, that alone made me guess that it was Sakurai who wrote it.
I would be very happy if Nasu actually would give up creative control to other people and hopefully wrote something new and original. But the show must go on, Sony needs that nerd money. |

They already came out saying they wanted to make it a franchise like DC and Marvel. They just built a new animation studio, don't expect Fate to stop within the decade. (Still waiting on Tsukihime Remake and the 2 Mahoyo Sequels... smh) This also means that Nasu, growing old as he is, won't have enough hands for so many pies, so at least your with will come true...probably. |

Wait, people didn't like Shumousa? I personally loved it. It also helps that Musashi is one of my favorite girls so I enjoyed it even more because of her.

Same here, I enjoyed Shimousa quite a bit and Musashi is a great character. It was certainly better than Agartha, at any rate... |

Considering his devotion to Nitroplus, I honestly doubt Urobuchi would ever go back to Fate. That said, if he did, my pitch would be for him to do a direct sequel to Fate/Zero, basically an alternate Stay Night route that directly follows up on all plot points that Zero laid out, rather than working Zero such that each route emphasizes different points and characters of the story. |
