As someone who has and is caught up with all the light novels I too can only continue to dream for a 2nd Anime Season. Their is plenty of material available. The first season only covered the first two light novels when their is now over 20 novels in the series.
One big let down is that the Hatagaya McDonald's from the series doen't exist as shown in the Anime, Light Novels, or Manga. Their is one inside the Hatagaya Train Station but as for the one we see that is outside and 2 stories tall that one is fictional.
Also Maou's Apartment based on the map of the area shown briefly on air doesn't exist where it says it is near Sasazuka Station.

I knew some of the places looked familiar. I lived for about a year roughly one km from Inuboh Station along the Choshi Electric RR, but that was many years ago, and I just thought I was getting senile and confusing places.

While I'd love to see more of the story animated, too, I don't think it's practical even if the financial support for it was there. Volume 3 starts the story down a very slowly-developing path towards the Big Picture, so even though each of the next few novels can stand on its own, wherever they decided to end another season would still have the feel of ending in the middle of a bigger story.
That the novels' contents were researched heavily is no surprise, as Wagahara gradually gets almost obnoxiously detail-obsessed as the story progresses.

So unless he's wrapping up Maou-sama or The Hero's Son (unlikely given where volume 3 ended), he'll be working on three series at the same time? Hopefully that won't cause one of them to suffer.

If there isn't going to be a second season I wish they hadn't animated the first one. I am so sick of good anime not getting a continuation when it really needs one.
