So far, the two times I've re-bought games I already own has been for Xenogears and Ring of Red.
Well, gotta give XSeed more of my money. Anything I can do to get 3 and 4 in English!!!

Would be nice to have some updates re: localization of 3 and 4; if it’s going to happen.
I don’t mind the PS4 updated versions per say but personally felt as PS3 titles 1 and 2 were fine.

Sweet! And with the added dialogue from the PC release!
Did 4 even come out in Japan yet? I understand that Falcom won't even entertain foreign licenses until the game has come out in Japan, so if anyone is hoping to get 3 and 4 together, it'll have to wait until 4 comes out (internet says maybe this quarter it'll be out?)
I'd also LOVE a PS4 collection of all three Trails in the Sky game or something! Most of us lack PSPs and Vitas these days and I'd still like to be able to play them on a console. I'd be cool with a Switch release! Then it could still be handheld!

Sorry I find this ridiculous where in the hell is cold steel 3,these two game has vita/Ps3/PC already, how about the crossbell arc instead of wasting time and money on a game most of if not all the fans already have.

^Cold Steel came out when the PS4 was already well into its life cycle here. Cold Steel was basically the only new RPG coming to PS3 at the point the US got it (except for Persona 5, whose PS3 release was a LOT quieter than its PS4 release). So a lot of people probably completely missed it as a result, believe it or not. Though it did do pretty good on Steam (I wouldn't be surprised if it sold better on Steam). Also, if they are able to get CS 3 (and eventually 4), any potential save bonuses from previous games would need a PS4 release to work (CS 2 did indeed have one from CS 1).
But I think the worst thing that could happen with CS 3 and 4 would be for NISA to get it. NISA did get YS VIII and that was a huge mess (both with translation and release issues), and even worse, switching in the middle of CS would result in different translators and probably an entirely different dub cast, which would suck even more! I need my XSeed homies to get CS 3/4!
I hope we get Crossbell arc at some point in the future too though. I need it!

I'd rather have this for the switch. I just got done with Ys 8, and it was very nice to go my own pace without being tied to my TV. These games are heavy time sinks for me and I already played them for the PS3. Unless the new ones are released, I'm not likely to bother replaying them on PS4. Too many games!

Well-localized Crossbell games have a good chance of beating out SC as my all-time favorite JRPG.
As for the Cold Steel games... they're pretty good, and I have a feeling we can take this news as tacit acknowledgment that ports of III and IV are on the way--I don't see Falcom bothering otherwise.
So the question of the moment is... who is likely to handle the localization? (And also, I suppose, will they patch in the Japanese dub to the PC version?) XSEED hasn't had a big project in a while, so perhaps they have it, though if as I secretly hope they're already working on Zero, it's unlikely they'd do both. I don't think Falcom would be dumb enough to go to NISA again, but it's possible they had an agreement re: CSIII before Ys blew up. There aren't that many other localization teams equipped to handle games this big. A large publisher like Namco-Bandai, Tecmo-Koei or even Square-Enix might step in. Maybe Alyssa, too, if they're still around.

Strong agree. I especially enjoy not being burdened by trophy lists that "punish" me for not finishing a game, or not sinking enough time into pointless activities. Given the choice, I'll almost always grab the Switch version of any game.

Even if it takes another year or two, this gives me hope that XSeed will localize Ao and Zero next. Switching to a different platform and all... if they can do it for Trails of Steel, then they can do it for the unreleased Ao series. Plus PC ports are a tad easier I would assume...?

They aren't switching platforms though. These are just English releases of Kai. They already exist, unlike any hypothetical Crossbell ports.

Of course someone has to mention that machine because...
