Anyone who would trust Masaaki Yuasa to deliver a simple and straightforward story practically deserves the ensuing deceit. Surely we all learned this many years ago!

Well, I mean, in truth, most of his stories are pretty straightforward and easy to follow. That's one of the things that has drawn me to his work so much. It's the execution and the visual exploration that make them truly special. I would never describe the story in Kemonozume as anything other than a straightforward love story.
