Quote: | Perhaps Boruto will mature and change his mind or another character will rise to overtake Sarada's potential, but for now, Sarada might just be the first Uchiha to lay claim to the title. |
While the other aspects are probably more important, I think the symbolic value of this last part would have merit too. They would have finally elevated the other founding clan of the Leaf Village to its highest office, honoring their contribution to the village. It would be more effective if almost all of them weren't already dead though.

While I do agree completely that Sarada will be a better Hokage than Boruto, I take issue with something you said about Sasuke.
Sasuke did not abandon Sarada for atonement purposes. As Sarada Gaiden clearly states, he has been out trying to find and stop the threat of another attack by the Ootsutsuki clan and therefore the foes we see in the Boruto movie. The mission was kept from many people in the village, and Sakura and Naruto knew exactly what was happening.
That's not abandoning her for atonement purposes, nor is it even abandonment at all honestly. Sarada had Sakura and she was safe. At the end of Sarada Gaiden, Sasuke made it obvious that he loves and cares for his daughter and wife very much, and that he HATES to be away from them (his face says it all, especially in the anime).
Yes, I probably know way too much about this part of the series, but seriously. Claiming Sasuke flat out abandoned his daughter because he was STILL trying to atone for his sins after OVER 15 years?
That's just completely ignoring facts that are right in front of your face ma'am.

Boruto might not be smarter than Sarada, but he is wiser than she is. Also, he has a natural charm that allows him to get people to work together (and to support him) that Sarada lacks. As things currently stand, Boruto would make a better Hokage if he actually wanted to be Hokage.

I feel like they’re stronger and more effective together than separate. Boruto has the charisma and charm while Sarada has the intelligence and passion. Both drastically different but important for a Hokage to have.

Simple: Sarada wants to be Hokage, and Boruto doesn’t.

Boruto said in the movie that he doesn't want to become Hokage, but that he respect the job for what it is.

The anime hasn't gotten to this point, but Boruto's goal has already been firmly established. He wants to become the Hokage's shadow, like Sasuke. Someone who supports the hokage and the village.

Boruto doesn't even want to be Hokage, so I don't see the point of this.
But I will say this. Even Batman thought Harvey Dent was better for Gotham than himself, but look what happened.

While Sarada has said she wants to be hokage and Boruto has been quite vocal that he does not want the show in particular has already shown hints that he might end up there already. When Sarada made her claim for the first time, Boruto was mentioned and there seems to be an underlying notion among some of the characters that even though he doesn't want to be right now that somewhere inside Boruto does want to be Hokage.
In a darker show the question that would need to be asked is one that shows up in many of these such stories. Is the person best for the job the one that craves it or the one that doesn't but is right for it.

When's Sakura ever going to tell Sarada how much of an crazy a##hole her father was really when they were teenagers? Or does Sakura just intend to gloss that over?

I think sarada already sort of got the hint that her dad isn't exactly the most likeable guy when his first reaction to her was to first point his sword at her, and then basically say "you want to know why I left you and your mom? none of your business."

I think that's just people assuming at this point in the story that Boruto will wind up as hokage since his dad and grandfather both were hokage. In story Boruto is being set up as someone who wants to be like Sasuke, including taking on a role of supporting the homage, while Sarada wants to be like Naruto including becoming hokage. And people seem to be understanding this as the manga goes on, like Mitsuki uses Boruto's goal of becoming the hokage's support to make him go on a mission that he initially didn't want to do because otherwise Sarada would have had to do it herself (Mitsuki said he was also going to decline going on the mission if Boruto wouldn't go).
Also I'm pretty sure in interviews the author of the Boruto manga and Kishimoto have said that they want Boruto to have a different kind of story than his dad had.

Hopefully she never finds out that her father at one point even tried to murder her own mother or things might be more than a little awkward.
