You mean Walküre ?
I don't get why the original seiyuu wouldn't just be like "eh, it's just a few lines" and do it. Money is money and it's not extremely taxing work. Oh well..Aya Hirano is pretty awesome.

Most seiyuu just stop taking on new work and operate that way, bothering to announce an actual retirement is pretty much a statement you're not going to do that. Her announcement retirement implied her voice was pretty worn out.

Aya did have a small role in Frontier, and she is a good singer. Though I have a hard time picturing Mylene with a deeper voice.

I don't think it's fair of you to make assumptions on the difficulty of the work when you yourself have not experienced it. If it were so easy to do then anyone would be able to do it, but we certainly know that that is not the case.

voice acting is nto riding a bike, if yous top doing ti for a while, it shows, and getting abck in shape for a few lines is not worth putting your voice back in shape, my favorite example is dragon ball super whre the members of the returning cast that had already retired were horrible (kaio sama in particular) when they retook their roles.
