I was actually kind of expecting that we would get a Splatoon anime sometime. There was that rumours a while back that Nintendo was looking to do some multimedia projects with their IPs, with mention of an anime (not counting Pokémon here). And the most logical choice looked like Splatoon could work well a fairly new IP that could appeal to a wide group.
