Kinda funny, I bought a tiny Saki figure from Mandrake last week. Saki must be popular in China if they are fansubbing it for China.

I may be a little confused, but since when selling of doujinshi became illegal in Japan? AFAIK that was always totally legal. Or did I miss something here?

I think they wanted to make it illegal at some point, but didn't (yet, anyway), might just be a random comment.

Doujinshi that feature nothing but your original content are perfectly legal. However, for many years doujinshi have become synonym for self-published work that features original story but setting and characters that are copyrighted. While illegal, this has been allowed to pass under radar so long as the number of copies is small and only small circle of people knows, as a way to invest in the future of the anime/manga industry. If it's not simply an info on what the man does for a living, it might just be that while arresting him for illegal uploading of anime, they also uncovered this type of doujinshi and had to add that to charge as well.

it'd be pretty hilarious if they were pirated doujinshis, as in, the guy bought some doujinshis from cokimet, went to a copy store and made several copies to sell over the internet.

A common trend among such previous articles is that they are unemployed men. I guess they would rather upload "Love Live" then find a job.

Plenty of doujinshi are shamelessly listed on DLSite(and the English site has only a fraction of what's available on the Japanese side). My guess is they wanted to make him look bad by implying he was creating porn(which works in place of calling him out on being unemployed, especially if he isn't).
