As much as I don't like the two male voice leads, the seinen/josei ambiance is pulling me in.

I'm not at all worried about the voices. I don't really care who they got. The fact that this is a Seinen is what's drawing me in.

I'm pretty sure this would be Josei, not Seinen. Though, since it is a novel, it doesn't have a magazine serialization, that I know of. I've also heard that it is potentially a little gay.

Oh, okay. Josei than. Either way, if the main cast are adults it's all good. But, your last sentence makes me hope that's not the case.

The plot/character designs make this look like it was pulled right from your generic workplace-themed yaoi manga.

I haven't read many of those, but yeah, I could easily see how that could be the case. It's really a great set up for any sort of budding romantic relationship. lol

Actually, the novel Fune o Amu was serialized in Classy., a magazine published by Kōbunsha aimed at young women.
Kōbunsha is the publishing firm that also published the magazine Shōnen, which carried Tetsuwan Atom (Astro Boy) and Tetsujin 28-gō (Gigantor).

Am I the only one who noticed that Maaya Sakamoto's character, Kaguya, is described as "taking an interest in Mitsuya"? Female love interest for male protagonist usually means it's not yaoi. Which doesn't rule out a serious love triangle between the male main character, his male co-worker and his female neighbor, but it's more likely to mean queerbaiting via shipteasing between the male co-worker and male protagonist, or maybe a more serious (and by "serious" I mean that the show takes it seriously with emotional resonance and doesn't use as a set up for humor or meta audience titillation) unrequited one sided romance that the co-worker has for the protagonist.
If anyone's seen the live-action movie (or read a review of it), they can probably confirm/deny the type of relationship the story's going for, but I don't want to be spoiled.

Hmm. Now I'm just gonna watch this for it's slice-of-life element with no romance in sight.

Oh, thanks. I couldn't find anything in English that mentioned a serialization, so I wasn't sure.

The fact that the 2 male leads had roles in the '01 version of Cyborg 009 is just another reason for me to be anticipating this series.
