Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! (TV) Genres: Comedy, Magic, Slice of Life Themes: Plot Summary: This is the story of how five high school boys affiliated with the "Binan High School Earth Defense Club" aka the "Do Nothing Club" are charged by a weird pink wombat creature with protecting the world. ---------------------------------- Episode 1: I think this was more like a parody but wow, that was amusing. From the LOVE MAKE to the action and the pink creature (it can even talk).... It also seems like one of the guys is very enthusiastic in the episode too; the name I believe is Hakone. Not sure what else to say but just wow. |

That was really funny. I knew that some of the staff working on this show had also worked on a few other comedy anime that I like, but this was still better than I expected in the comedy department.
Previously, I kept lamenting the fact that the wombat wasn't particularly cute, but he created some very comedic scenes, so I don't mind anymore. I especially liked everything related to how he "disguised" himself. spoiler["I really think he's dea--" "Don't say it."] I suppose next episode will be where Wombat actually explains the situation in more detail to the boys (and thus to us viewers). I'm really curious to learn more about the cute little green hedgehog's apparent desire for world domination. |

Crazy time in the public bath.
The pink wombat was a little weird-ish. So far the characters are all male. Story is a bit out there though. Skipping this one. |

I really, really hope they keep the attack names intact. That was bloody brilliant

Woah, talk about deconstructing the magical girl genre!

It's not quite a series based on Cure Fire... but I'm definitely watching at least the first episode of this.

Wow the first third was extraordinarily boring, I'm impressed that got pass production, but it got actually decent once they started having joke. And then it actually got good once the transformation and all that happened. Now to see if it'll be able to stay interesting once the inherent funniness of the spoofing will be gone.

The characters from The Daily Lives of High School Boys as snarky magical boys? I can dig it! Plus, the student council has an evil (?) male Utena! And the shouta is basically Elvira from Tiny Tunes! This has so much potential for comic heights, I hope it doesn't get all serious after the initial premise wears off.
So, is it just me and my dirty mind, or is this show filled with innuendo? That food based villain was even more phallic than the "Love Sticks". |

Episode 1
Yes! This needed to happen, a magical boy anime. I was laughing so much and found it quite engaging. spoiler[Random Splash]! Or the spoiler[cute little green hedgehog being the villain and thus having an evil deep voice]. And what about the final attack being "spoiler[love shower]", I got a strangely dirty thought from that. I am looking forward to more of this. |

Nah, I don't really get it. As a one note parody I think it works fine, once the episode got rolling it had at least a few solid laughers in it, but the individual jokes were kind of lame, I can't see it holding up at a pure comedy. As an otaku-girl semi-porn like Queensblade or Senran Kagura then I guess it works well enough, but as a general audience show I think the first episode is probably plenty to get the premise across. If they were going for equal opportunity I would have much preferred a 3/2 or 4/1 female-heavy tokusatsu series instead of a male magical girl series.

Aww, Zundar is just the cutest little alien lifeform looking to conquer Earth ever, giving speeches from inside teacups and riding around in his subordinate's pocket. Even having Yasumoto Hiroki's deep voice somehow adds to his cuteness.
And so spoiler[the teacher really is dead, huh?] Well, at least Wombat is spoiler[working to revive him with his advanced alien technology.] Last week's monster had a pretty standard kind of magical girl/sentai monster design, but I actually thought this episode's monster looked rather neat. I suppose we're supposed to pay attention to what the boys talk about at the beginning of each episode, since it tells us what the episode's monster is going to be. This was another funny episode, but now I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do next episode with the apparent "pretty boy contest" premise. |

All of this, he is incredibly cute with nose or ear twitches, and the teacup just drew my attention away. Also it sounds like Wombat was just spoiler[covering himself for the fact he got the teacher killed, clearly it was not the teacher saying that he was in stasis.] The reasoning of the main character is quite funny. Next episode looks a little Free. |

Sailor Mars... I mean the pink haired guy should have had a red heart, not a pink heart. At least the fire was spot on, LOL!

Episode 3
Their principal holds aspoiler[ pretty boy contest every month, so the school up to the 1579th contest]. Although if that was done every spoiler[month that would take 131 years, so perhaps if serious rather than just a random number it was more common for a time]? Winning an spoiler[arm wrestling competition by winking], showing the spoiler[goods at the bathroom urinal], and spoiler[brotherly destroying a classroom]. Plus Battle Lover Scarlet has spoiler[his heart flutter from guys on television]. |

Another really funny episode!
So I guess it's not so much an actual "pretty boy contest" as it is simply a popularity contest. If it was purely about prettiness, I don't see how Gero could ever not come in first place. I don't know if Ryuu has any real siblings, but if that's his idea of being "big brotherly", I kind of hope not. And so Io's account balance is 3,126,900,000 yen...that's about 26,500,000 dollars! I couldn't help but laugh out loud when Zundar revealed that his evil plan this time around was spoiler[to turn the whole world gay so that no one would have anymore children and the world would be his for the taking.] Judging from the next episode preview, I imagine his next plan is spoiler["turn the whole world into children so no one can fight back against me".] Next episode...spoiler[oh my god, they look so precious in their oversized clothes! And it looks like we'll learn a bit about Atsushi and Kusatsu's past.] Looking forward to it! |
