So this is the show that creates various BD (not discs, just BD) sales records in 2014 huh, that is good enough reason for me to buy (I kid, I kid)

I am always a fan of NIS release, hopefully they can license me more shows

These are changes that may not actually matter if the dub is your first experience with these characters...

Yeah, I really don't think the dub was meant for the fans. I think the dub was included just to broaden the potential audience. I like the voices, but, as you say, it's my first experience with the characters. And it's clear that the actresses care a lot about those characters, just from following their respective Twitters Razz

I can only speak for myself but as a massive LL fan (Whose spent, far, far ,far , far too much money on figures, CD's, merchandise etc... on Love Live) NISA dubbing my favorite anime series is by far the single greatest thing NISA has ever done and I'll love them forever for it. I was already a huge fan of the series when NISA released S1 sub only (I had no clue NISA would ever dub anime let alone LL) and I also went to the movie premiere which was subbed but I can say that the fantastic dub (imo) NISA gave the series only made me love for it grow, if that was even possible haha and I can't ever go back to the subs as the English dub is far more enjoyable to me then the Japanese dub will ever be. So while I'm sure this dub will get a lot of new fans into the show (which is always great for any anime) there are probably quite a bit of older fans who are happy for the dub as before it was either subs or nothing so there wasn't an option. I just wish the S2 LE was in the style of NISA's redesigned LE sets as since the change they are the perfect size and look beautiful and its hard to go back to the huge, awkward LE style before but understandable because it wouldn't match the S1 LE.

Back to S2 it definitely was my favorite of the 2 seasons, I loved learning more about each characters backstory ans seeing more into their personal lives, quite a few moments that made me very emotional too.

While not particularly well written, I found season 1 enjoyable with all its silliness, moe cliches and sparse story. But I found season 2 feeling like filler, strictly designed to milk the franchise. I have some hope for the movie though.

You may want to rein in those hopes. Milking the franchise is the whole point of the movie. spoiler[They pretty much come out and say as much, in a big production number about how great school idols are.]

Also, I got the NISA S2 box, and it's really nice. A great value, compared to the more infamous companies in the collector's edition space.

I bought it as well, and between the price and quality, I couldn't help but think of a couple of other companies that could take some notes.

@DuchessBianca

That's awesome! Very Happy Fans of the original voices preferring the new voices DO exist. It's just a matter of personal taste. Smile

I watched it all subbed originally too and honestly the dub is fine. I was abit dubbious about Kotori but they did an awesome job. Nico is the only one that I prefer as the original voice. I am also a massive LL fan, quite interested to see how Sunshine! goes...

The various NISA boxes, and Sentai's surprisingly great Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun box, remind me of why we'll miss the R1 anime companies when they're gone and we're at the mercy of AniCanyon. LL S2 doesn't have as much stuff as Nozaki (no soundtrack, simpler book), but it's a full $30 cheaper. And both are still well below the price of a single 4-episode box from The Other Guys. Anyways, I've already got my Love Live movie box preordered from NISA.

The dub is more enjoyable to me, personally. It might take some time to adapt to it after hearing the original (Kotori's high pitch sounds a bit weird in English, but good otherwise), but it's worth it.

It's probably a good idea to get a Blu-ray player at some point in the near future. You may be just fine with DVD, but the rest of the physical media collecting world isn't. Don't hold it against NISA, or any other company, for not releasing a DVD version in 2016.

The reason NISA didn't release it on DVD is simple. There are no proper DVD masters. It was released in Japan Blu-ray only. It did get a DVD version here in Australia but I wouldn't recommend it. The video quality is bad and the subtitles are this ugly yellow monstrosity with no typesetting.

Just buy a Blu-ray player. They're not that expensive. Hell, just buy a PS3.
