Some of those outfits seem like they'd appeal to girls, rather than guys.
Anyway, I don't have a camera or scanner, so I'll just say that I'm really getting into the Area 88 tv show. My only experience with it was the arcade game, but I really like the pacing, drama, and mood. It's what I was expecting out of Yugo, but didn't get, because all that research on Pakistan still led to a crap story. I'm also having fun with Macross[You said new release, not new show, right?], even though I don't see a huge difference between it and Robotech. Mari's music really keeps me plugged in to the plot.
Judging by the(official) previews I've seen at cons, I'm swinging
towards Paradise Kiss and Nerima, but I haven't decided whether I want to continue those shows. (Particularly since I have a love-hate thing with the Para Kiss manga, and only seem to like the anime for the animation and music.) But to be honest, I haven't had a show really grab me since Cromartie.
As for the nerdiest thing I've ever done? Faked a book report off of the "Battle of Olympus" NES game in elementary school. (But I got caught, and just faked another one.)

Hmm, new layout. Got rid of "Shelf worthy" and the other ranks... This new "Shelf Obsessed" bit makes up for it though. I am definately interested in it. Although, I'm just asking... The new DVD that we are to write about. Does it have to be anime, or can it be something related? I have a lot of live-action very anime related discs that I really like...
I have heard very, very little about this Nerima Daikon Brothers. I suppose I should look more into it, since it looks like something I may like.
Edit: Gatsu, shouldn't you be answering those in an e-mail, rather than here in the forum?

Not to crush your revamp, I think change is good, but the layout needs work. It's hard to tell where one review ends, and one begins - if a review has multiple paragraphs, can't tell which paragraphs belong to which review from just looking at the page. And just from a reader standpoint, we don't always read every review, just like to skip around sometimes. I do admit I liked the categorization of the previous format. Sometimes you just want to know if something is any good, or how good it is.
Don't get me wrong, I think your column is great and look forward to reading it each week. I'm just not a fan of the new style. I do like the Shelf Obsessed though.

Yeah, that scene in Moon Phase was the most blatent bit of fanservice I think I've ever seen. Not that it was a bad thing. I mean, vampire catgirl, what would you expect? Also, I love Haiji and want a plushie version of him.
Also, I agree with Faceman that it would be nice to have a more obvious seperation of reviews.

New layout is okay, but I really preferred the old format. Like others have mentioned, it's hard to tell where one review ends and another begins. I preferred reading the article in its "bits and pieces" format; it's harder to read when it flows like an essay. I also preferred it when it started with the best stuff and trickled down to the worst DVDs at the bottom.
I could very well get used to this new layout, but as the saying goes: if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

Hmm, I just added in a small menu at the top that would let you jump to reviews. Does that make it better?

The menu's nice, but when you're deep into the article, you don't want to hop back up to the top to find the next review. I noticed the reviews start around the top of the image of the DVD case, but say for the FMA one, there's no DVD, so it could be mistaken for part of the Kodocha review. Also the Flame of Rebecca review looks like it may still be part of the Full Moon review, since it shares space w/ the image. Even just something like a simple horizontal line between the reviews could make it easier.

They screened the first episode of Nerima Daikon Brothers at AnimeUSA a few weeks ago and I was super impressed with the dub. It also helped that Greg Ayers was doing a bit of commentary throughout the episode. haha. I really enjoyed the antics in the original production but I must say the dub is pretty spectacular (IMHO). I will definately be picking this one up.

No not really. The problem remains that the beginning and end of reviews are not clearly marked. The DVD covers just aren't sufficiently intuitive to work as indicators. I would put a line or an icon between the reviews. The icon could also show whether it's shelf worthy, rent worthy or bin worthy. As a clean break with the old the new layout is a bit too clean. I'm not too fond of the current banner either. Tad brutal on the eyes.

I think it does. But I tend to read the whole column not just the reviews of the shows I'm interested in. From people's comments I don't think everyone does this.

I had no problem really recognizing where a review started and ended, granted it isn't as cut and dry as it used to be but the reviews still seem to pretty much reside beside the DVD art for the title being reviewed. They were plenty intuitive enough for me.
I really like the column and the shelf obsessed section should be interesting down the line. I kind of like the new article style to it, like how it just flows as one article rather than segmented mini articles.

Am I just corrupt, or did this line sound really, really wrong to anyone else?
Nerima looks quite different from anything else out there, and it will be interesting to see how it does, since there were zero fansubs done for it.
Kodocha 39 was certainly a bizarre episode, even for a series as strange as Kodocha is, but at least it explains where they get some of the visuals for the "2nd" OP.
I probably said the same thing when Full Moon 2 showed up here, but I think I'll be waiting on boxed sets, because Viz's releases fail it in my view. Even then, I might leave them in shrinkwrap on the shelf just so I can re-watch the fansubs without guilt. *waits for Zac's wrath*
MoonPhase--I normally like or tolerate supercute borderline loli otaku fangasm series, but I don't have any interest in sitting through any significant amount of MoonPhase. Just watching that opening song lets me know what I'm in for, and for some reason they had to throw in vampires, catgirls, and the "little sister" schtick. Imo the yet-unlicensed Karin is a far better "cute vampire girl" series. Sure, there's fanservice, but it's not nearly as loli or fetish-oriented as those linked pictures from MoonPhase.

I hope I'm not being overly harsh, but this seems more like a step backward. I'm all for progress and switching things up, but your previous design was way more effective for me.
For one, the cheesy 1950s banners added so much more character to the column than a boring old "SHELF LIFE" in standard font. I agree with what was said about the confusing layout. Maybe have some sort of color coding? It's a bit hard to tell at a glance what you thought of the DVD, and it's a hassle to scroll up after each review to see what the verdict was.
One aspect that I appreciated was the various images you sprinkled throughout the column. Sometimes seeing a picture from the show/movie does a lot more for me than looking at the cover art.
Again, sorry if I'm nitpicky here. I just really love this column enough that I would register for the forums just to make a couple suggestions. Long live Bamboo!

I think the categorized menu really helped it out. The categories were what I missed, so now that they're back, I'm happy.
Love this column.

No, don't worry, it's not just you. Imagining such a thing is not only comical, but disturbing.
