This has been making me say "what the Hell?" all day, since the news first broke. It's a game, it's for fun, it's played by children. HOW THE HELL does this translate to violence?!

They seem like a bunch of stereotypical rednecks. Glad they caught them before they killed everyone. It also sounds like they couldn't handle the competition and wanted an easy victory, even cheating would've been better than guns and threats.

So, they blew their chances. What in the world were these idiots thinking bringing guns? Especially in freaking Boston? Do they not watch the news or were they thinking "Well, gee golly gosh let's take our guns into a hotel hosting a competition for one of the most recognizable franchises in the world. Nothing could go wrong"??!?!? Not too mention its a "World Championship" so people from outside the US would have also been in danger! Some people can be so despicable... |

This was mentioned a couple times in my Facebook feed, since I had a few acquaintances who were at this event, and also because Anime Boston is held at the same venue and I know a couple of people who volunteer there. Crazy to hear something like this would happen...

I'm well aware that Boston has it's share of violence but please don't bring more crazy and violence into my city. I'm glad that the organizers did something about this.

Thank goodness the gunners were apprehended before they could reign terror within the Pokémon Championships. They were just moments away from unleashing their destruction.

Had they actually expressed any real intention to commit any shootings at the tournament? If they were planning a mass shooting, wouldn't the guns have been found on them when they tried to enter the venue, not back in their cars or their hotel room? This seems more like a stupid Facebook comment/joke than an actual planned spree killing, although the parties involved were completely justified in taking it seriously. I imagine they just brought their arsenal with them out of a "Gotta have our guns everywhere" mindset. But culture shock has a way of landing you in jail when you bring a bunch of unlicensed guns from the rural Midwest to the urban Northeast.
All I'm saying is, let's not jump to "they were seconds away from opening fire!" conclusions before all the facts are in. |

I would agree with Zalis116.
Depending on the situation the 2 men in question may just face minor charges due to the strict Massachusetts gun laws or may have their charges dropped if their was a misunderstanding. Just did a quick read through on the laws of Massachusetts and while the laws for in state residents are pretty strict, most do no apply to out of state residents. The shotgun in question is not illegal to posses the AR-15 rifle depending might be. If it was state compliant or if the party was exempt as long as both were unloaded and locked in the trunk of the car then they are innocent. Many people don't realize that when traveling with firearms you not only have to follow all federal laws but individual state laws as well if you travel through or to said state. These guys might have brought them along to later go to a shooting range after and didn't do their homework. Now if they were really planning a mass shooting then, of course throw the book at them and be thankful they were caught beforehand. I'm just tired of the media, Police, and the public over reacting to a incident when a firearm is involved because it's evil and the party is going to do something wrong. |

They were idiots for posting that and deserve whatever punishment they get. Even if it was just a "joke", there is NOTHING funny about mass shootings. Did they honestly think they would get away with it? In this day and age in America, threats like that are treated as well. In either case, I hope they receive some sort of punishment for this.

Have you been watching the news? This reactor is justify. Showing off your guns on facebook and saying "Kevin Norton and I are ready for Worlds Boston here we come!!!" Will give anybody a red flag, that shouldn't be a joke. Responsible gun owners shouldn't joke around with their guns, they have to take responsibility for their actions. I hope they get their guns licenses taken away and fine heavy for this. |
