Shouldn't Dio technically be an antagonist? Just saying.

I would have thought that Light Yagami would be on this list since he is both a protagonist and antagonist. In Lelouch's case, I think an instance where he genuinely realized how dangerous/bad he's become is Shirley's death.

I'm sure i am not the only who will say this but Dio is far from something you would call a 'Protagonist'. I'm just bothered because you broke your rules in the first spot when everyone else worked perfectly.
Otherwise good list and 5,4 and 2 all have that smug face.

This is a doubly confusing sentence, because he is on the list and he is never the antagonist. You are misusing the word.
Why is Lelouch not listed with the surname Lamperouge?

Good list, but Dio isnt a protagonist. If u put Dio in it you could have just put anything in this list.

For the poll, I voted for Satsuki Kiryuuin. I can't recall ever seeing another female who had eyebrows as thick as hers in the past.

I can't believe I had to do a write in for the King of facial hair, Fuhrer King Bradley from FMA. Whatever sins he may have caused, crushed or been, you all have to admit he had quite the nosewarmer.
Just look what it did to Mustang at the end of Brotherhood.

No surprises that Godtsuya is number one.

Instead of Dio, I would have placed the main character of Kaze no Stigma here.

For one thing, the hyper-competent genius protagonist is not a recent shift. It isn't really any more common now that it was 10 or 20 years ago.
For another thing, there is no sane logic in which Dio is any form of protagonist.

If we want to talk how broken a character is, then Izayoi should be number 1. The anime didn't get far enough to show what he's really capable of, but eventually he takes down a demon king that ALL the gods of EVERY religion would rather abandon the current reality and start a new one instead of fight themselves.
If Izayoi and Tatsuya ever fought, Izayoi would win with ease.

That's a good choice.
I'd go "- Dio, + Sora (NGNL)", probably further up the List. Anyone willing to gamble the freedom of every human being alive because he's just that good at games is up there on the "righteously confident" scale.

Seconded that Kazuma from KnS merits at least consideration for this list. I can't think of any protagonist who has annoyed me more with his smarmy superiority complex, and he's certainly ungodly powerful.
I'm also a little surprised (but not disappointed!) that Kirito didn't get mentioned, given how much people complain about him in this vein.

The fact that Seiya Kanie from Amagi Brilliant Park isn't included in the list makes the world a gloomier place.
