I love her voice. And while I actually prefer the English dub of Samurai Champloo as a whole, I was tempted to watch more of the Japanese version basically just because she voiced Fuu.
Also, I didn't know she voiced Moffle, but now that I think of it, yeah, I can totally hear it. |

Wish I had this chance. There are tons of questions I'd like to ask.
She's coming to Taiwan next month but I failed to acquire the eligibility of her autograph. |

Kind of sucks that this interview is like 1/10th the interview length of those Uranus and Neptune VAs, but I guess that's how things go when you're more important.

I wish I was at Anime Expo, I really want some of my Sister Princess stuff signed by her.

it was kinda the same for me when it came for 2006 FSN and for champloo. while the dub VA for fuu did great, and Kate Higgins did very well as saber for the DEEN version (though i dont have no idea or know why aniplex usa and sentai didn't bring her back for UBW TV series & movie is beyond me) , though ayako's take are far superior and i'm typically a die hardcore dub only elitist (where i watch ONLY english dub, excluding kid friendly series & animes that will never be dubbed) which goes to show that there are other female VAs not named nana mizuki that can do great vocal performances where both dub and sub fans can agree. |

We had something like 30-40 minutes with the Sailor Moon folks, this one was 15 minutes, and heavily delayed due to late flights. We were very lucky to get this. |

^ that's a real shame. I personally feel Ayako Kawasumi is in the top 15 best seiyuu of all time. Very diverse and extremely talented. Overlooked by a lot of newer fans.

Love her voice. She's such a pro. My favorite role of hers is still as Lafiel in Crest/Banner of the Stars.

Ayako Kawasumi is still Matsuri Sakuragi from Strawberry Marshmallow to me. She had great chemistry with Mamiko Noto as Ana Coppola and the two of them also did a radio show together for a while where they'd occasionally try to speak in English.

Yeah, the Matsuri-Saber contrast is hilarious. So does the Miu-Rukia contrast. |

It's interesting that her dub equivalent essentially is Michelle Ruff since they have shared various roles together. I really doubt that is entirely coincidental.

I went to her autograph session. I had to stand in line at 4 am to get tickets. I thought it was funny that she had to had my Copic marker to her handler for them to open it. I keep my set in tip top shape, but o guess pulling off the lid of the marker was just too much for her.
Definitely the first guest I've ever met who couldn't manage to open a Copic marker. |

She is a wonderful & talented seiyuu, that much is certain. She is one of the actors who, when I hear she has a role in a series, my interest in said show goes up immediately.
As an aside, I was not only fortunate enough to attend her panel & autograph sessions at Otakon the year she attended (where, at said panel some fans took it upon themselves to hit on her/propose marriage, one of whom, who appeared to be Caucasian, even asked her on a date in Japanese ...LOL), but my friend managed to snap a picture of her sitting at the autograph table signing another person's item just before her handlers forbade photography...while I respect her privacy, it's a shame we couldn't have gotten a better picture, as she is very pretty and was wearing a beautiful lavender kimono... And for the person who said her analogue in the US was Michelle Ruff, it certainly seems that way, but also add that one of Miss Kawasumi's biggest roles, Mahoro, was given here to Bridget Hoffman / Ruby Marlowe, who I think also did an excellent job. |
