There's always Isekai Ojisan.

I've always hated the old Pokémon intro (you know the one)

Heathen.

I'm glad that Ash gets to go out with a bang as World Champion. Here's to the new protagonists, and a possible Ash cameo many episodes down the line.

Considering the rash of children getting bullied for not buying exclusive skins or emotes and being "Default," yeah, I'm with the FTC on this.

Wait until these kids get bullied and harassed in a game like Overwatch for picking tanks in Free For All or having the audaciousness to move up with the objective on payload.

Pokémon isn't about the competition.

But I was told to be the very best like no one ever was, I have to catch them as my real test and train them for my cause.

I really need to make time to watch that anime, if not for the SEGA deep-cuts then for Takehito Koyasu's velvety voice. If they ever dub it, I'm PRAYING they squeeze in old American SEGA taglines like "To Be This Good Takes AGES!" or "Welcome to the next level!".

But then you had the dub of the first movie that tried to do a pacifist theme of "Pokemon aren't supposed to fight" so I guess mixed messages are pretty common Razz

The kind of adults who dunk on Ash are the same kind of adults who don't understand Superman and thus should be ignored.

I think what is surprising about the change to me is that I viewed the Pokemon anime in the same vein as something like Sazae-san or Detective Conan as opposed to something like Yu-Gi-Oh or Digimon. I figured the show would remain in relative stasis for good or for ill.

This may be unpopular but I hope some version of the game's story makes it into the S/V anime. It feels ready-made for a protracted series.

And they haven't even given the games a better font!

This immediately kills all my excitement. All the pixel remasters on Switch would be cool, but not being able to patch out the terrible font is a deal-breaker. I guess PC will remain the best way to play them by a mile.

The games have a cute tarot card set as a pre-order bonus.

I figured this would be arcana-only, like these bonuses usually are, but it looks like it's not even that—twelve cards that appear to be patterned on the court cards of a normal deck of playing cards. I'm guessing the official graphic capitalizes "Tarot Card Deck" because they couldn't get away with calling it one in lowercase.

Of course, Atlus's old bonus tarot cards are still probably worse—they split the arcana across two games on different consoles (PS3 and 3DS) and then bumped up the price of each $10 because it was a "special edition" (there was no other edition). The full set of arcana that came as a preorder bonus for Tactics Ogre on PSP is probably the nicest I've seen.

I remember that, Persona Q only had half of the Major Arcana. It was some serious shenanigans on their behalf. A real shame, because I loved their Special Edition stuff. Getting artbooks for Knights in the Nightmare or Dragon's Crown or the Etrian games was so good!

Superman isn’t some complex or deep character who is difficult to understand and therefore write in a competent and enjoyable manner.

Having Superman drink, kill an enemy with the same powers as him (as a last resort), not wearing his trademark red trunks on the outside of his suit, having his bisexual son take his place, or any of the other weird complaints that people have made about the character in and outside of the comics the last decade or so.

Doesn’t = not understanding the character. If Batman is a character whose different interpretations and characterizations are accepted by fans (i.e. the less critical and more sane). Superman fans can accept such takes as Snyder’s even if they don’t like the execution.

Yeah, the Dragon's Crown artbook is great. If they'd been charging markups for things like that, I wouldn't be as salty (although not having a standard edition is still kind of annoying). But my memory was that they charged normal price for those releases at launch and only jacked it up for way worse add-ons later in the generation (mostly for Persona spinoffs, because they knew they could get away with it). You needed to buy PQ and P4U to get all twenty arcana, and the only potential use for those cards is as cosplay props. They're printed on a weird glossy paper instead of normal cardstock, and they use an odd aspect ratio (matching P4's in-game graphics, to be fair) so you can't even mix them with other cards to make a full deck.
