Call me when it gets new animation as well, though even that won't help with the horrible directing and pacing.

Beautiful picture, hope it gets good ratings to get all the seasons animated.

I highly doubt it will ever appear in the top 10 most watched anime list that ANN publishes every week. I even doubt it will get better ratings than Naruto Shippuden.

The broadcast will feature the brushed-up versions of the episodes that are included on the Blu-ray and DVD releases, and the broadcast will begin from episode one.

Oh goody, now more people will witness Usagi looking like Minako in Act 8. Laughing

Too bad they won't get the hilarity that was Umino looking as creepy as Dr. Tomoe in S since they "fixed" that shot and well...

Has someone broken her neck? How can her head bend back 90 degrees like that?

Strange combination of anime still premiering on the web, BDs currently releasing, while airing on J-TV.

How come everyone is so critical of the animation in this adaptation, yet not of the older version?

Older series tend to get more leeway. Though I do think Crystal's detractors are being excessively critical in a way that's unwarranted. In general, if Sailor Moon fans have a grievance, they'll let you know in every single thread related to Sailor Moon. I tend to think of them as the Dragonball fans of the shojo demographic. Laughing And the two fandoms actually did war against one another back in the 90s.

I stumbled across a site that documented animation goofs in the 90s version (all 200 episodes) against the then-current 7 or 8 of Crystal. Crystal had significantly more errors, both per episode and overall.

Personally, I think the new art style (and low budget, naturally) are big factors. The 90s version pared down the manga's style to make it easier to animate, and it shows.

If you don't know any anatomy then sure. Otherwise this picture shows just how much untalented artists are working on Crystal. A Z-type anime production done on a minuscule budget if even that.
This picture epitomizes the quality of Sailor Moon Crystal.

The original show was the original. Draw by hand in a time when you were not sure if the show was going to endure to become a hit. (Many popular Mahou Shoujo of the past hardly get a mention now). Some scenes are laughably horrible, And there's nothing 'good' in the animation either. The show can look decent if nothing is moving. Moment anything moves holy crap it went downhill. And this is Toei, who aren't doing bad right now with a chance to reboot one of the largest franchises ever.

SMC shouldn't look 'comparable' to the old show. It should be hands down the superior version, and it's the opposite. Not even just the visuals, even writing in the adaptation sucked the soul out. Closer to the manga, yeah. Wow. That...doesn't cut it.

@ Cptn_Taylor

Disagree, as the colors are lovely and have no problem with the stylized art or else I woundn't like many anime and cartoons out there.

I tried emulating that pose to see if it was humanly possible. But my neck and left arm disagrees.
