I hope this doesn't meet the same fate as Arpeggio of Blue Steel (the other ship girl show) and at least gets licensed by Sentai instead of languishing in streaming...

Doubtful, considering it's a Kadokawa title.
It's a highly probable Sentai title.

Kancolle has already been Licensed by Madman Entertainment to be released in Austraila, Which means that it will be licensed and released by Sentai as well just u wait they will announce it soon.
I pity that Arpeggio Has not gotten a western License yet, Considering it done well in Japan i am quite surprised. I just hope with the new Arpeggio films, interest with it might rise and we get it licensed. here's Hoping.

If Sentai does pick up Kantai Collection, here's hoping that if it gets slated for an English version, it'll be in the hands of a good director and that it won't be rushed, like they did with some of their earlier shows.

We got the manga, but for some reason the anime has gone a year without a license. I hope we can get it with the films coming out and the Netflix stream but it's really annoying that no company has bothered with it and there's been no rumors. Either it's too costly or something else.

I wouldn't let the home video license for this go for cheap, considering KanColle is the new hotness in otakudom now. Already has impressive preorders, and unless the anime is just outright awful and kills momentum like what happened to Maoyuu, the fervor will continue for a good long while.

John Ringo & Tom Kratman, 2008 SciFi novel "Yellow Eyes" has US Warships made sentient using off world tech, USS Des Moines "Daisy Mae" and USS Salem "Sally" create their own female human avatars, with all the headaches those entail.
So, no real problem with KanColle's schoolgirls. Looking forward to this one.

And they're not even all schoolgirls, in appearance. Most of the battleships look older and dress in their own unique ways, which is why I prefer them to the lowly destroyers.

Come on Crunchyroll you know you want to license Death Parade!!
Don't let Funimation have it all to themselves

Do CR and FUNi share licenses in North America/USA? That would defeat the purpose of ever using FUNi's sub-par service when their competitor can just steal all of the views.

Generally they don't share, but there's been a few over the past few years that they have.
