The designs have been improved, slightly. At least face-wise, but still look like streetwalkers to me. I have a sinking feeling this will turn into a TinT2 in spirit, where all the original alien girls will follow Tenchi to school once a week but will not be the focus. His new friends will be. (Pure speculation btw).

As of now, all the promo art is focusing on the new girls. Even the group pic on twitter with all of them in there, Momo and Beni somehow dominate Tenchi's sides rather than Ayeka and Ryoko.

The good news is all of the VAs are coming back, except Ayeka's (who is retired imo). Oddly, it seems the VAs for the new girls got higher billing. Perhaps it's a hint.

So much cast for essentially 10 25 minute episodes.

That should be Ai Fukada, not Ai Fukuda.

Since Yumi Takada has retired, I kind of wish they had gotten Mamiko Noto to be Ayeka. Mamiko Noto has similar affectations in her voice, though she may be too high-profile (re: expensive) for this production (although they did manage to get Noto's Strawberry Marshmallow (where Noto is Ana Copolla) castmate Ayako Kawasumi (Matsuri Sakuragi in SM) as Ukan Kurihara). But I can't say I have heard Haruhi Nanao's voice, so she may be a perfect Ayeka for all I know.

This "20th Anniversary" production seems to be taking a page from Sailor Moon: Crystal's playbook in being two years too late for the actual 20th Anniversary.

I like Ryoko's redesign, the rest not so much, and all the new girls can just go away.

I'm not sure, are the new girls going to be aliens/space humans? If they're not aliens, I don't see the point of making this a Tenchi Muyo spin-off rather than a completely new I.P.

I haven't watch the Tenchi Muyo series in a long time. Tthe last one I watch was Tenchi in Tokyo back when Toonami aired during weekday afternoons, and they never finish it... Anyway I've forgotten about this new one coming out next month. Some of the original characters look different from how I remember them. Tenchi has longer hair and wearing glasses and Ryoko and Wasyu hair styles look sightly different. That and with the story summery I read it feels that time in the show has pass since I watch this series, and that I miss out on a lot.

The character designs look nice enough to me, and I especially like the design for Beni for her physical attraction (she has a strength of a demon...that's interesting, and the fact she dresses kind of like one as well as is shown in the promo art holding a weapon they would use emphasizes this. ) and Sasami who is still looking cute as ever, but even more so with the new outfit. ^///^ My second favorite is Tenchi with his overall new look I mention earlier. He really does look like a homeroom teacher.

I think I would give this anime a try when it comes out.

They most certainly did finish airing Tokyo, and afterwards all 3 Tenchi series continued airing in reruns for a few months.

The franchise is dead, folks. Leave it be. Trotting it out like this is like Weekend at Bernie's. Hell, Tenchi doesn't even have his farmer's tan anymore!

They did? I was sure they stopped around the climax and started showing reruns from there. How did I miss it? Well I guess I would have to find it.

I don't understand, but as for him not having the farmer's tan anymore I didn't notice until you mention it. It must have faded away overtime during winter.

Tenchi looks pretty cute with the glasses. Not too thrilled about the rest of the designs.

Sounds like the plot is just your typical harem fare. If there were something else to it, I'd consider giving it a go.

I really hope that Funimation picks this up. I'm a fan of the old cast so I'm sure a majority of them will reprise their roles. I'm not so sure about Tenchi, though...he sounded a lot different in the last OVA, but everyone else was perfect.

I don't see much point in getting totally hyped up when it's only shorts. It's coming back, as a pre-crippled series.
