For those that seek to be a VA, good luck because you are auditioning for so many gigs and will face constant rejection (like any job).

Not to mention that even when you do get a gig, the pay isn't very good at all. It's gotta be a job you do because you love it, because you're not gonna make a living off of it.

Sounds pretty cool, maybe I'll look into applying. However the video was very awkward for some reason...

Also, what do you bet someone's going to try and audition with a hentai...

Not to mention you'll probably need to move to LA If you aren't already there. Better start saving.

Look at that PDF. I didn't hear anything about adult supervision.
Quote:
I hereby agree as follows:
1. Producer shall be entitled to and shall solely and exclusively own the Interview and all of the results and proceeds of my services hereunder (collectively, the “Material”) (including but not limited to all rights, throughout the universe, in perpetuity, of copyright, recordation, reproduction, transcription, performance, broadcast and exhibition by any art or method now known or hereafter devised), throughout the universe in perpetuity

You're kidding right? It's written like a "bro" dub script. DANGER!

If you can worm your way into original productions the pay's higher, but LA's also ridiculously expensive, so I'm not sure what the effect of that would be.

That "i" word. What is this?!

Vee (C.V) is an idol enough.

And there's plenty in Japan that it's annoying. Question Exclamation Sometimes, life takes you to a strange place, even into VAing. I wouldn't inspire to do just games and anime. That is just silly.

good luck to anyone considering trying this

there are a lot of people out there that think that the only important thing is sounding exactly like the original seiyu. it's voice acting not voice imitating.

good luck matching the mouth flaps too i might add. even a lot of talented voice actors outside of anime lack the ability to do this.

don't go expecting to voice any of your favourite characters either.

being good at just one particular voice isn't going to get you far either. you need to be good at a range of voices and show full range of emotion with all of them.

working with directors and giving them what they want isn't always easy either.

if you haven't got any experience in the acting industry as a whole you're going to struggle.

did i mention that voice acting doesn't pay very well also? even if you get a lot of work, a lot of voice actors do directing and script writing just to make a living. the ones that don't often have to have part time jobs. Others do voice acting outside of anime on-screen acting.

also, be prepared for constant rejection. you're gonna end up auditioning for a lot things and probably only end up getting a handful of parts.

just because you like anime doesn't mean you'll like the job. Even if you're really good at it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's as fun as you'd imagine. You might end up on shows you hate.

For anyone serious looking to become a anime voice actor, this is not an ideal pathway, even if you have some experience. You will most likely need to live in LA and have a second job initially (as you won't get much work as a rookie). You will need an agent and getting one isn't easy. If you're good enough you will find one and they may find you a little work, but that still won't guarantee anything.

And just like for anyone who works in the entertainment industry, prepare to be criticized (by both people inside and outside the industry).

@AutoOps007 You don't need range to become an anime voice actor. You'd only need range if you wanted to do American cartoons. Range isn't stressed in anime like it is in American media. It's nice to have, but it's not important.
