I know this is interest section and not the news, and for the record, I love Bioshock and have played 2 of the games (need to play Bioshock Infinite), but why is ANN reporting on Bioshock when this doesn't have any relevence to Japan or anime? This is kinda odd for ANN to be reporting on this, what's next: K-pop.

Stunning concept art for one of my favorite games. The film would have been anything but stunning though. I honestly don't see how people still want to create a live action adaptation of a game when it fails 99% of the time if it isn't scrapped.

ANN does cover games somewhat. I haven't really read the columns though to see if they are typically Japanese games only.

I'm guessing because Gore Verbinski is included in their encyclopedia for the "Ring" remake: person#29920

video game movies are never good and sometimes they even ruin the actual video game series they're based on (Silent Hill being the prime example), so I'm glad that not only the Bioshock movie never happened but that the trend of video game movies in general seems to have died (with the exception of the Resident Evil movies, which are themselves coming to a close soon)

that said, that concept art is so cool it makes me almost wish it had happened

I know, but it still doesn't make sense for ANN to be reporting on Bioshock. Unless if it was a Bioshock anime or manga, that would be appropriate but for this particular article, it doesn't other then the director that directed the US remake of a Japanese movie.

Yeah but usually Japanese games, they only covered western games if it's relevent to Japan or anime like Call of Duty Black Ops 2/Jormungand cross-marketing and Uncharted TV Tokyo special. Those are relevent for ANN because it relate to anime and Japan, but showing a concept art from Bioshock with no link to Japanese culture or anime is just out of place.

I guess your answer was what you said in the first post. It's the Interest column. It's not going to follow the rules the rest of the site might.

I think his problem isn't that ANN is reporting on something non-anime related, but that their reporting on non-Anime related items does not include K-pop.
