Why does at one part say since 1976 instead of 1974?

I was wondering that, too, since I've seen that logo with the "Since 1976" mark for years. According to Wikipedia, Hello Kitty herself was created in 1974. Sanrio, the company that makes Hello Kitty products, entered the U.S. in 1976 (the company itself started in 1962). |

The 1976 was probably used only in the US on those products sold here if that was the reason despite the unusual way it's presented here. I do recall often seeing a 1976 copyright on Hello Kitty products a lot of times in the past so perhaps that also indicated when the character was trademarked here as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3ohnnrptvQ |
