Now this is quite something I didn't expect to see coming to MAL. I wonder what other series they will add later on in the year.

This probably explains why all the fansub group pages have disappeared...

If I was in charge of Daisuki, I'd be pissed at whoever it was, above them at ACJ, that approved this.
I thought GOD EATER was supposed the big exclusive that gave them a breakthrough. I guess not anymore.

It was an exclusive in name only. Those of us who don't watch it on Daisuki, watch it 'elsewhere'...

I wonder if this will actually catch on. I know Daisuki for their rather bad player and subs. Is it a good idea to expose more people to them?

It's available worldwide excluding Japan and China, in 1080p for free. There's no excuse not to watch it legally.

There will always be excuses not to watch something legally.
On topic, this is an interesting move. And, I had not noticed that MAL had removed the fansub information. Though, since I don't really look at that...I'm not too surprised it went under my radar.

lol no. sadly, fansub groups have been dying left and right, there isn't much of a need for them now that pretty much anything is being simulcast (which really is just depressing, because the "official" subs are generally of atrocious quality compared to the often meticulously-crafted fansubs)

Does MAL already have Crunchyroll and Hulu embeds, like anime-planet does, or is this a new thing for them?

Not sure what you mean, I'm seeing MAL's "Fansub Group Information" pages right now just fine. At first I thought that me being in Japan had something to do with it, but I checked through a US-based location on Chrome's ZenMate, and they're visible there as well.

Damn. What a blow to the site being useful for tracking fansub information. The scene gets deader and deader.
Secondly, I hope those shows are received well. I really admired how Cinderella Girls season 1 turned out.

I'm glad to see the fansub scene dying off if it means official subs will becoming more available. Fansubs will prop up whereever they feel they are needed, so I wouldn't worry that much.
This is an interesting move for MAL. I never expected that site to begin focusing on first-party content.
